Black Ops 3 Beta (first impression)
So I finally got in the beta last night and decided to play for a couple of hours and unlock some specialist and weapons. It took me a moment to get used to it and it didn't help that I found myself facing people who already passed level 20, so it probably won't surprise you that I did terrible at first. But after some unlocking and figuring things out I managed to play better and actually got a second place with 17 kills and 4 deaths which is quite good for my doing.
What's different?
Well everything and yet not so much. Eh...what? The movement is fluent and you can see that very well when you're wallrunning or vaulting over an obstacle. This makes the game fast and smooth, something I like a lot! But at the same time you're still holding a gun in your hand and usually the one that spots (and often shoots first) the other player first is going to have the advantage. Don't be surprised to see people dropshotting and camping either, no matter how fancy the movement system is some people just can't let go of cheap tactics. So yeah it's something new and yet certain things are still pretty much the same.
Certain specialists can make a difference?
Absolutely! With the Ruin specialist (has a type of titan smash that instantly kills anyone around him) you'll be deadly in close quarters combat and with the Outrider (she has a bow with explosive arrows) you'll be deadly from a distance. Another specialist I tried was the Prophet and with his Tempest gun he can drop enemies with one shot and even get a multiple kills with one shot if the enemies are standing too close to eachother. Then there's also the Battery specialist that I really like for the kinetic shield that makes you immune to bullets for some time (but not against headshots or explosive damage). It creates different chances and with a mixed team of specialists you can really help eachother out in the match. For example the Outrider has an overdrive ability to mark enemies on the map for a limited amount of time so everyone in your team can then see the other team through walls and know exactly where they are.
The weapons are good?
I started with the ARK-7 because I'm usually quite comfortable with assault rifles, it was rough getting kills at first but with some attachments you can definitely improve the gun and make yourself more lethal with it. The more you use a gun and get kills with it the further you unlock attachments for it. Then I tried the Razorback smg and that was just like a gift from heaven, it's fast and deadly! But what's also impressive is that you can get ranged kills with it as well, which is quite unusual for the smg. There are so many more weapons to try out, I think that some will be nerfed and others might get a buff but so far the Black Ops 3 beta is pretty interesting!
