Metal Gear Solid V Mother Base adventures

If you thought that Metal Gear Solid V: the Phantom Pain is just going into missions and some online multiplayer then you're mistaken! All your missions and rewards or loot you take from enemies (even people) adds up to your base aka Mother Base, this is the place where you can relax after a mission and even check up on things that are going on there. But that's not all, there's so much more!

What do you mean with Mother Base adventures?

What I'm trying to say is that hanging around Mother Base will already give you a lot to do. For example you can inspect the troops (which boosts morale), listen in on some conversations, collect diamonds for extra money, talk and/or play with characters around the base (I think play just counts for the dog though, unless Big Boss has some private sessions with some people...but I doubt that) and you can upgrade your base. This makes it from a simple platform in the middle of the sea to a complex constructure that can be huge! You can even take a shower to wash away the filth and blood, if you don't do that your soldiers will react differently to you and Ocelot will even throw a bucket of water over you!

You can build your own base?

Yes, you can decide how it's going to look and what you want to build. This gives you the chance to build your own unique base and make your own piece of heaven. You start with the command centre and then you can build other platforms to improve your technology or the skills of your soldiers. This new technology you can use in the field and it gives you some awesome gadgets that help you stay ahead of the enemy. You decide the look of your base and that means you can make different shapes of your base and if you're smart you'll choose for something good because your base is in danger if you're not careful!

What can happen to your base?

Well other players can invade your base, this leads to a 1 vs 1 mode where you have to track down the invader and you as the defender have to do this before the invader takes too much of your stuff with him or her. But this can only happen when you have a F.O.B. (Forward Operating Base), this is optional and you don't need it to complete the game. So if you don't want other players invading your base then you might want to leave out the F.O.B. part. If you do create the F.O.B. then I would suggest investing on defense, which means steal equipment to bolster your defenses or hire more people to patrol your base. Of course everything costs money (in game money, not real money) so keep an eye on that if you don't want to lose a lot of money. Your base can even be invaded if you're on a mission so you might want to keep that in mind if you decide to build the F.O.B. because it sucks if you have to abort a mission just to protect your base and letting the invader have his or her way is also risky because they can steal a lot of your stuff!
