Are you really a hardcore gamer?

It surprises me when someone calls himself or herself a hardcore gamer, because nine out of ten times they don't even know what that means and just think it makes them look cool. But is it really cool to be a hardcore gamer? I doubt that, because that means you have bought and played over a hundred games and also completed those games. That means you spend a lot of your time playing games and does that sound cool to you? I don't think so!

Being a hardcore gamer isn't cool?

Well not in the way some people think it is, it doesn't mean you're good or an expert gamer but it means you play a lot and I really do mean a lot of games. No not ten games, not fifty but more like a hundred (if not more) games in a year and really play them and not just spend five minutes on one game and then move on to the other. Hardcore means you're dedicated to playing games and do hardly anything else than playing games, I don't think that sounds cool and I doubt other people would consider you being cool if you spend almost all of your time on playing games. But it is cool that you can play a lot of games and that you have the time to play all those games, I'd say some people would be jealous of that but I still doubt that they would think that you're cool just because you play a lot of games.

Why do some people think it's cool to be a hardcore gamer?

Maybe it sounds cool to them? Who knows why some people think that being a hardcore gamer is cool, I guess it sounds cool to say and perhaps some people even think they earn respect by being considered as a hardcore gamer. I'm not saying that it's unthinkable but once again looking at what a hardcore gamer is I can't imagine that anyone would really think that being a hardcore gamer is cool. The mistake many people make is that hardcore gamer stands for professional gamer or talented gamer, I'm sorry (actually I'm not) to have to break it to you but that's not what it means. Some people just think that it sounds cool or makes them look cool and so they use the term hardcore gamer while there aren't many people that could actually be considered as a hardcore gamer and that's actually a good thing!

But what if you really want to be a hardcore gamer?

Then I hope you have deep pockets because you might need them, you also need a lot of spare time to play all those games because not every game can be finished on one day and if you're stuck then it will take you even longer to beat a game and that means less time for other games. I'd say it's almost impossible to be considered as a hardcore gamer because most people have school or work and that usually prevents them from spending long hours on playing games. Sure with a Steam sale you might be able to buy a lot of games for a cheap price but do you really play all those games? Do you even have the time to play all those games? I think in most cases that's a no and so being a hardcore gamer is difficult and that's not a bad thing. Because do you want to be known as a guy or girl that spends every moment you have on playing games? It might be difficult to have and keep your friends, because if you spend all your time on playing games then that makes it hard to be friends with you especially if your friend(s) don't like to play games. So instead of trying to be something you're not you can just enjoy playing games and have a great time playing those games!
