Looking back at.....Obscure!
Obscure is one of those games that you might not have noticed but is definitely worth playing, I was lucky to read about this game otherwise I might have missed it as well. This Playstation 2 game gives you another look at survival horror. Instead of playing as one character you can switch between five characters and you can even play together with a friend in co-op. Maybe that doesn't sound interesting but it is!
Creepy after school adventure!
You play as a group of friends that look for the brother of one of them, kids have been missing and they search the school (an old fashioned school with dormitories and all that type of extra stuff) for a clue. This game starts as a creepy game where danger could lurk behind every corner, even with a friend you could be in for some nasty surprises! But the further you get the more it turns into a slaughter, well not truly hack and slash but there won't be a lack of enemies. I must admit that the first couple of hours in the game are the best but that doesn't mean the rest sucks, it's just a bit less creepy.
You're not alone.
You can play solo and have a computer controlled character with you, each character has his or her own skills so it's useful to switch it up a bit to get the most out of the game, but you can also play together with a friend. This doesn't make it less creepy, especially at first when you hear noises but the monsters don't always show up. This keeps the game tense and makes you feel uncomfortable, which is perfect in a survival horror game. Around every corner there can be danger, a noise you hear can be a monster lurking around or a tree scratching a window. I can tell you this, you're not alone!
Survival horror fun.
This is one of those survival horror games that's really fun to play, not just because you can play with a friend but also the story doesn't take itself too seriously. It feels a bit like you're playing in a teen slasher movie, exept you're playing as one of the teens and the monsters try to kill you! It's a good thing that there are weapons that allow you to kill the monsters or you can always try to run...
