Black Ops 3 Beta problems (solution)

I must admit that I hardly ever participate in a Beta, mostly because of the issues that are in a game and I don't want to put myself through frustration when it can be avoided. But Black Ops 3 looks pretty cool and I'm very curious about it, so I decided to pre-order the game and reserve a spot for the Beta. Today I got my Beta token (a 25 numbered code that allows me to download the Beta) and I was ready to download the Beta, but guess what? It doesn't work!


What went wrong?


Somehow I get the message that the code doesn't work, so I try again but I get the same message. I tried the two other codes (you get two extra codes for friends) and those also don't work, so you can imagine that I'm not happy with this situation. I checked the codes and I didn't make any mistakes while entering the code, so at this point I'm really looking at Activision for screwing me over here.


So what now?


Well I did what most people would do, I seek help by checking the Call of Duty site and follow the steps that eventually lead you to support. Well guess what? It doesn't work! I mean seriously? So here you get these codes but when things don't work you seem to get the finger, well it kind of feels that way because if there's no one to help you when things go wrong it does give me the impression that they don't really care if it works or not. I'm trying to be reasonable, but it's tough to stay positive when nothing works and you can't get help while other people can just play the Beta which is something I can't do at this point.


What should change?


First of all make certain that you have a way to help people no matter what time it is, oh sure in the US it's early in the morning but if you sell your product on the other side of the ocean then you better have people ready to assist them if there are problems because it's ridiculous that I have to wait till in the evening to get some help (it seems support is available from 11 AM PST and I live in the GMT +1 timezone) so that sucks! Also this whole beta code and token nonsense should just be made easier, you pre-order the game and you get acces. I know this is the case if you buy the game from Xboxlive or PSN but this should work also if you buy it from a retailer. It's just rough not being able to play something you should be allowed to and you get no help with it either, that's just a big fuck you from the big company to the little man.


Solution.


Thanks to a helpful youtube video I finally got into the Black Ops 3 beta. What do you need to do? You go to xbox.com and log in, then when you're at the menu to enter a 25 digit code you select a different region (also an option in the menu) and select Brazil. Somehow your 25 digit code will work when you enter it and it will start downloading on your Xbox One. After entering the code you can change the region back to your region. It's weird but it works, good luck!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique.
