Why should you buy Resident Evil Remake HD?
This especially counts for people that have already played Resident Evil on the PS One and Gamecube, probably even more on the Gamecube because this Resident Evil is exactly like the Gamecube version. It looks pretty much the same and the controls also feel the same, so why should you buy this game?
Why should a veteran Resident Evil player buy this game?
A simple answer would be nostalgia, this is a good reason for me at least because I really like the first Resident Evil game and the Gamecube version made a good game even better! So to get the chance to play this again on my Xbox One is enough reason for me to buy it because it´s been a lot of years since I last played Resident Evil. For new players it´s probably a bit different, because the controls are a bit weird and the inventory system isn´t what you would expect. So new players might be in for a strange but interesting experience, at least I hope so.
But is it worth buying it?
That depends, if you love the first Resident Evil just like me then it makes sense that you would like to buy it. Even if you still have a Gamecube with Resident Evil remake, because I still have them and yet I bought this polished up version for my Xbox One. The controls are still a bit weird, eventhough they´ve been changed (you can also get the old controls back if that´s more to your liking) I still bump into walls. But that´s ok because I´m kind of used to that and it would be weird to suddenly have these amazing controls in fixed camera settings. This polished version looks still as creepy as it can be and somehow it feels like I never left the mansion, which is a good thing because with survival horror you want a creepy vibe or else there isn´t much point in playing it.
What makes this Resident Evil game the best one?
This is my personal opinion, but I don´t mind backing that up. First of all the creepy mansion is perfect for scare tactics and makes you feel uncomfortable most of the time. The characters look cool and eventhough some of the dialogue is strange it does at character to the game, making it unique and interesting to play. There is also the urge to discover more, what happened in the mansion and where do all these doors lead to? This game is a lot slower than Resident Evil 4, 5 or 6 and that´s not a bad thing! How else would you notice the shadows on the wall moving? But also the lightning and noises the floor make when you walk over it, these all contribute to a survival horror experience I haven´t seen in a long time! It really depends on what you prefer, do you like to run and gun through the game or do you want to take it slow and survive at all costs?
