The Sims 4, what happened?

Have you heard anything about the Sims 4 lately? No? Well you´re probably not the only one. There was a time that the Sims games were big business but now it seems only the die hard fans are still playing the latest Sims game. So what happened to the Sims 4?

People get tired of starting back from the beginning again?

That wouldn´t surprise me, because it sucks that you lose all the expansion items and abilities in your new Sims game. For example if you bought all the expansions in the Sims 2 then it sucks that in the Sims 3 it´s back to the basic stuff and you´ll have to pay to get almost the exact same things back in your game. I can imagine that people are sick and tired of that, they just want to play the Sims and not deal with the same crap every time they buy a new Sims game. The Sims 4 isn´t an exception and yes you lost your pets, supernatural creatures, the weather and many more things you got in the expansions of the Sims 3 and before that in the Sims 2. It would be great if you could bring your stuff from the Sims 3 to the Sims 4, then you´d lose nothing and in a way only gain new things.

The Sims 4 looks worse than the Sims 3?

I´ve heard that before, to me the Sims 4 looks good but is good really good enough? I mean if you´re going to make a new Sims game then you expect improvement and not the same stuff or even a step back! So the cartoon style sims didn´t fit with everyone and so a lot of people hold on to their Sims 3 game. Is that really worse? I don´t know, I mean I don´t mind it that much but to be honest I do like the look of the sims more in the Sims 3. It´s nice that they put a focus on building, but I think most people play the Sims games for playing with their sims and not just building. Especially for lazy builders there are often plenty of houses available in the game that you can use, so it´s not really the most important part about the game. That doesn´t mean that it´s a bad thing, but it´s just a shame that the game took a step towards less realism instead of making the next step towards more realism. I think that´s what a lot of people want that play the Sims games.

What does this mean for the future of the Sims games?

That depends, if most people stick with the Sims 3 and not buy the Sims 4 then that could mean the end of the Sims. Maybe that sounds a bit extreme but let´s not forget that all good things come to an end and the haters have predicted this to happen, but then again saying the same things over and over again doesn´t really make it a prediction when it finally happens. But it´s not game over yet! If the expansions bring something fun and new then perhaps more people are convinced to play the Sims 4, for example something like Supernatural in the Sims 3 or Pets in the Sims 2. So I wouldn´t give up on the Sims 4 just yet! Let´s hope that things go well for the Sims and hopefully we can enjoy the playing these games for a long time!
