Sledgehammer zombies vs Treyarch zombies
The ´new´ zombies mode is out in CoD Advanced Warfare and probably one of the first things you´ll notice is how similar this mode is to the zombie mode you know from Treyarch in World at War and the two Black Ops games. But is it really the same or is the Sledgehammer version quite different?
Treyarch zombies.
In Treyarch zombie mode you play as one of four characters, sometimes celebrities, and you have to survive for as many rounds as you can. You can play with three other people online and/or another player in splitscreen. You can buy guns from drawings on the wall (you´ll get exactly the weapon that is displayed there) or you can buy one from the random box (you´ll get a random gun which can be a very good weapon or a terrible weapon). The further you make it the harder it becomes, but the zombies are often predictable and making a zombie train (let all the zombies follow you in a line and take them out whenever you can shoot back) is often the way to go if you want to make it far. You can also gain new powers from drinking different types of soda, you also have to pay for that, and that´s a good way to survive longer! When you go down you lose all the perks you gained from the soda machines and if you died then you lose all your weapons as well. There are also emblems you can pick up from dead zombies and these can give you a nice bonus (max ammo, one shot kills, all weapons are for sale for 10 Dollars/Euros)
Sledgehammer zombies.
In Sledgehammer zombie mode you also play as one of four characters, with the voices and appearance of celebrities, and you also have to survive for as long as you can. You can team up with three other people and/or play with a friend in splitscreen. You can get guns from standard spots or buy them from a random box, the more powerful weapons are available in the random box. The difficulty is a bit higher because these zombies don´t just follow you, they come at you from almost everywhere and some of them also have nasty effects on your character. For example some can infect you and you´ll have to cure yourself in a decontemination area, if you don´t do this in time your character will turn into a zombie and you lose control but your character will hunt down the other players or if you play solo it´s game over. Another nasty effect is when a zombie with electricity on it gets close to you because that will disrupt your exo suit and thus the abilities you gained from that. Exo suit? Yes you can wear an exo suit that gives you new abilities (which are quite similar to the abilities you get from the sodas in Treyarch zombie mode), you can upgrade your exo in certain spots and this costs you money. When you go down you lose the perks from your exo, if you die then you also lose your guns but the big difference is that for a short time after you´re revived in another round a green tombstone will appear on the spot where you died and if you get there in time you get the weapon back you were holding when you died. You can also pick up certain emblems that have about the same effect as you know from Treyarch zombie mode but with an extra that activates the security system (think lasers) and these can hurt the zombies but also yourself!
Conclusion.
Sledgehammer zombies might look the same like Treyarch zombies but it´s not, sure you can definitely see similarities but that´s about it. The zombies are more ferocious in Sledgehammer zombie mode and with their exo suit make more unpredictable moves than you would expect. Also getting infected is a nasty addition to this mode that makes it even more intense! Sure Sledgehammer zombie mode isn´t the most original idea and that´s quite alright, because it´s better that they take something familiar and make it better than come up with something that´s less fun to play. Besides a lot of fans asked for zombies and guess what you got your zombie mode! Sure some people are pissed off because they have to pay for it, I get that and it sucks that you have to pay for something that could´ve been included in the game but sometimes this is the way it is and whining about it won´t make it free! I think Sledgehammer zombie mode is a faster and more intense zombie experience than you´re used to, so for all the fans it´s probably what you´ve been waiting for. Is it truly better than Treyarch zombie mode? I think that´s for your to figure out, because what one likes the other hates and to say one mode is better is just starting a discussing where there are no winners! Oh and don´t forget, shoot them in the head!
