Connectivity is more important than you think!

These days almost everything happens online, not just your study or your work but also when you play games this happens mostly online. So it sucks the moment something goes wrong and you lose connectivity, even if it happens for just a second it´s enough to kick you out of a game and you have to start over. Which makes me wonder, is this always online thing such a good thing?

Always online sucks?

That´s probably a matter of opinion but it´s true that it´s not the most ideal for every gamer out there, not everyone can be online all the time and if that´s required to play games then you´re shit out of luck! The worst part is when you´re in the middle of a mission or level and somehow you lose connectivity and that means you have to do everything again. Trust me when I say that this is enough to make your blood boil if this happens a couple of times on one evening. I´m not saying that games should be perfect, I mean losing connection can happen, but putting save points in games so this type of frustration can be avoided is a must!

You shouldn´t force people to always play online?

That´s another thing, somehow developers like people to be online and offer you services if you play online. You can see your stats, the leaderboards and sometimes get little things for free just because you play online. Of course it´s still up to you if you really want to do that, but you can imagine that it´s tempting to play online if you get something good out of that. But this isn´t forced, no forced would be that you can only play the game when you´re online. Which makes absolutely no sense when you play a single player game, because those type of games you should always be able to play offline. It makes sense that if you play games with others that you´re online, it would be difficult to play with other people if you´re not. You could use splitscreen but that´s only half the fun, no pun intended.

But what makes connectivity so important?

Because so many games are only playable online or because a lot of people play games online you need good connectivity, hopefully this keeps the frustration at a minimum and it keeps the fun the in game. Unfortunately that´s not how it always goes and some games have some serious connectivity issues, just to name my favourite connectivity issues rage game...Destiny! I don´t mind going online but at least try to keep me online and not kick me out at the first sign of connectivity problems that are nine out of ten times the fault of the game itself (eventhough you get the message that you probably have issues on your side, yeah right). It´s great that games are capable of more things and that you can play games with almost anyone on the world, but has this really improved my gaming experience? Well not in a positive way, which is a shame because with modern technology a lot of things are possible and somehow good connectivity isn´t always one of them.
