The Xbox 360 is almost dead?
With the Xbox One now released in most countries and most new games coming out only on the Xbox One and not the Xbox 360 anymore it´s only a matter of time until the console is dead. Or not? Because the Playstation 2 lasted long after the Playstation 3 was available and talking about that Playstation 3, that console is also still alive and kicking! So perhaps the Xbox 360 can still go strong for several years?
Age doesn´t have to mean anything?
Well that depends, because I wouldn´t expect to see new many new games appear five years from now on the Xbox 360. But that doesn´t mean your console is dead, instead of buying new games you could buy older games you never played and that should keep you busy for quite some time. There are quite a lot of retro game shops where you can buy old and/or used games, not just for the current gen consoles but also for the old consoles. This can go back to the Atari and NES times. So if you really want to hold on to your console then you can do that, but that would mean that you can´t play the latest games as these will mostly only launch on the current gen consoles.
Are there still a lot of games for sale for the Xbox 360?
Yes there are a lot of games for sale for the Xbox 360, enough to keep you busy for the rest of the year! Even popular games like Dragon Age: Inquisition and Destiny have Xbox 360 versions so it´s not like Xbox 360 players are missing out a lot. But sometimes games will only launch on the current gen consoles, for example Assassin´s Creed Unity, and then you´ll have to miss out on that if you don´t have a current gen console. It´s a risk and it doesn´t have to be bad, but new games will appear less frequently on the Xbox 360 and more frequently on the Xbox One. That´s how it goes and there isn´t much you can do about it, well you could buy the Xbox One but that´s really up to you.
Should I sell my Xbox 360 when I buy the Xbox One or Playstation 4?
Once again that´s up to you, but my advice is to hold on to your console! Especially when you have a lot of Xbox 360 games and still like to play those, it´s a shame to get rid of all those games just because there is a new console available. Instead of getting rid of them you could have a retro weekend once or maybe even twice a month where you play old games on your old console(s). Maybe that sounds lame to you but it´s actually a lot of fun! Invite some friends and have a good time with games from the good old days. You can do this of course with whatever console you have, the point is having fun and I think that´s quite possible with almost every console!
