The Wraith in Evolve is the best monster?
Evolve is a game where you play as one of four hunters or as the monster and then it´s your objective to kill the other(s). It seems simple but it´s often not that simple, because a clever player won´t run into the group of hunters right away. You play carefully and try to evolve your monster as much as you can before the first confrontation and even then you´ll probably want to strike when you want to and not when you´re forced to. If you´re someone that likes a more tactical approach then the Wraith (the third and last monster you can play in the game) might be something for you!
What makes the Wraith so good? Because it´s a female monster? Yeah right, as if that really matters. No it´s because she can use tricks to confuse the hunters and even even abduct one of them for a short time. This means you can´t play like a tank, for example when you´re the Goliath, and you´ll have to pick your moments to strike. Even when you´re discovered you can make a decoy of yourself and then turn invisible to get away. This is a great trick to get out of a nasty situation. But I bet she´ll be the most difficult monster to master, which makes it for the more experienced players a challenge to dominate with that monster. Especially when you realize that she has less health and will die a lot quicker then the other two monsters.
But what if the team sticks together all the time? You mean a group that actually works together? I haven´t seen many videos of a group that actually works well together but even if there is a group that does that´s where the abduct ability comes into play. You can pick one of the hunters and snatch him or her away, this will create chaos and they´ll most likely chase you. During that chase you can sneak behind them and deliver some hits to the slower hunters in the team. I doubt that this monster is for everyone and I´m certain that a lot of players will prefer to play as the Goliath because he´s a big tank that can take several hits. But isn´t it more fun to beat other players with tactics and stealth? I guess that depends who you´re asking but I´m pretty certain a lot of people would like to play as the Wraith.
So it´s just hunters vs monster? No you also have other game modes where you as the monster have to protect eggs while the hunters try to destroy them. As a monster you can hatch eggs so you get more monsters to help you kill the hunters. The hunters have a mode where they have to protect people, less experienced soldiers that are a lot weaker than the hunters, and the monster will try to kill them all. So it´s not just hunters vs monster, there are other things to do and I´m pretty certain that this game has a lot to offer if you give it a chance. Feel free to check it out in February 2015!
