Metal Gear Solid Online?
Lately I´ve noticed that a lot of games that had just a single player mode now also have a multiplayer mode, apparently you can´t escape that and it seems Metal Gear Solid has also joined the multiplayer side of gaming. But what is Metal Gear Solid Online?
From what I saw in the trailer it´s two teams of people fighting against eachother in a type of team deathmatch. You can fight eachother with team tactical moves, stealth or even use certain vehicles (a type of robot that allows you to move faster and shoot enemies with a machine gun) and then hope your team wins. It seems like it´s a serious attempt to allow people to use their skills against eachother and see who is the ultimate boss...ok ok ok Big Boss!
You´re fighting as soldiers in the army of Big Boss? Actually you can pick your own skin for your multiplayer character, which means you can also play as Big Boss and on the other team there was someone playing as Revolver Ocelot. So I get the idea that there might be more characters from the Metal Gear Solid games that might become playable. But that´s not confirmed and it remains to be seen if that´s really true. It would be cool though if you could play as any character from all the Metal Gear Solid games, but that would also mean that there will be a lot of multiplayer skins.
Is this something a Metal Gear Solid fan is looking for? I´m not much of a multiplayer gamer but I do enjoy spending some time playing with or against other players. So I´ll probably check it out sooner or later. I must admit that I´m more interested in the story of Metal Gear Solid V, but this might be a nice distraction and who knows if it gets popular enough they might actually add a lot of things in multiplayer to keep it alive longer.
Multiplayer exists only when there are enough people out there playing it, not enough people means no multiplayer. That´s pretty simple and I don´t know if people that play Metal Gear Solid, especially people that have been playing for more than a decade, games are looking for multiplayer. But maybe I´m wrong and this is exactly what some people are looking for. It might even introduce some (new)players to Metal Gear Solid, so that´s a good thing and who knows what that might lead to.
