How well did the consoles do in 2014?
I´ll spare you the details but it seems that Playstation 4 is a powerful console and a lot of people love playing games on that, which is good for them but probably a bit less good for Xbox One owners. What does that mean for the future of the Xbox One? Is this the beginning of the end?
When both consoles launched in 2013 it was pretty clear who made the smartest move, Sony of course by making their console a bit cheaper than the Xbox One and by releasing it also in the countries that didn´t have the Xbox One launch. Microsoft must have really been fucking up there because that was almost an unforgivable mistake! A lot of Xbox 360 players moved over to the Playstation 4 and I don´t blame them, Microsoft let people down and it´s not surprising that people then switch to something better!
So the Playstation 4 is better? The hardware is better, which also means that the games are a bit better looking but if that truly makes a console better remains to be seen. I think Microsoft finally came back at the end of this year. They finally launched the console in countries that weren´t included in the first launch in 2013 and the price also dropped + interesting bundles (with popular games) made it a tempting offer. It´s no surprise that people bought it and I´m one of them, but that was always the plan and I didn´t go for a bundle. To be honest I bought it from day one when it launched in my country, so also no discount. Yeah that sucks...
Will the Xbox One finally dominate? Eh...no, Microsoft is far behind when it comes to sales and eventhough they´ve had a good time with the price drop and bundles that will come to an end. So if the console is going to be more expensive then it´s probably going to influence their sales, because people prefer to buy things when they´re cheaper. So Sony rules? It definitely looks that way, which is good for them. I just hope they won´t release too many exclusives because that´s such a fuck you towards Xbox One gamers. Oh it´s all part of the game but that doesn´t make it less painful.
Would you consider buying a Playstation 4? No I wouldn´t, not that there is anything wrong with the Playstation 4 but I´m just going to stick with one console and I made my choice. But don´t let that stop you from expanding, if you want more and you can afford more then I don´t see why you shouldn´t. The Playstation 4 is an interesting console but I don´t think it´s for everyone, certain games just don´t exist or will (probably) never launch on the Playstation 4 and I´d rather not miss out on that. But that´s ok, we all have our own favourite and as long as you´re having fun playing games then who really cares on which console you´re playing!
