Surviving X-mas with games!
Last time I talked about spending time with your family, but what if you don´t get along with your family or you don´t have any family? Then X-mas can be a less pleasant time, it probably also sucks to see all the happy shit on tv or everywhere else. So how do you survive this? Play some games!
Seriously? Yes seriously! You see games aren´t just a lot of fun to play, they´re also a good distraction. Especially if you play a good single player game that will take you at least twenty hours to beat, I think that will help get through some holiday crap! Especially if it´s a game you haven´t played before, but I think a blast from the past might also do the trick. Because why spend money on games when you already have what you need? I´m not trying to turn you into Scrooge, but it seems silly to buy a game just to get through a couple of days. But then again it´s your money so do with it what you want!
What kind of games are you talking about? Think about games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Skyrim. Games that can suck you into a story and keep you there for hours, days and maybe even weeks. Well you might not have weeks to spend on that but at least the holidays are over! You see games are a good way to get through a rough time, which doesn´t just include days like X-mas or even Valentines Day (when you´re single and not happy about that) but also when you lost someone you cared about.
So it´s just a distraction? Well some games can even have a healing effect, I´m not saying it takes all the pain away but by doing something in a game it can have an effect on your real life. For example being the hero in a game can make you feel good, a good feeling that might benefit you in your real life. My point is that games aren´t just fun, they can do more for you than you might realize. Maybe some people make fun of you that you spend a lot of time playing games, but if that works for you and makes you happy then who gives a shit what other people think?
X-mas isn´t the same for everyone and I don´t think you can expect everyone to experience it the same way. So spend X-mas the way you want to and hopefully you have a good time. Remember, you don´t have to be traditional! Make of these days what you want, especially if these days are rough for you. Spending X-mas alone can be rough, but it doesn´t have to be. It´s up to you...
