Dying Light is a lot like Dead Island?
You´ve probably noticed the similarities between Dying Light and Dead Island, it´s not a surprise then that it´s from the same developer (Techland). But what does this mean for Dying Light? Does that mean more of the same stuff or a new and improved version of Dead Island? Maybe something completely new?
Well it´s not completely new, because you´re still in first person mode fighting against zombies. But you do have more movement options, as in jumping and climbing on obstacles. This is a big improvement compared to Dead Island and in Dying Light this will be your best chance on survival when you jump around the rooftops. I also got the idea it´s now more based on survival, it´s not like you find guns everywhere and you can blast your way through the game. It seems like you´ll have to use your weapons with care and pick your fights carefully, you also have ways to distract zombies when you face too many to deal with. So it seems Dying Light is motivating you to use your brain, the same brain the zombies try to eat. Great...
Does parkour work in this game? Well it´s not Sunset Overdrive and to be honest I don´t think that this game wants to be like that, it just gives you more options to move around and use that to your advantage. Wether that´s to explore, escape or attack enemies. The climbing works pretty good from what I saw in the trailers, when you jump towards a ledge you climb up and hopefully that keeps working well because you don´t want to fall down when you´re on a rooftop! You can move around pretty fast and enter buildings if you want to. You also create safe areas by clearing them of zombies, I take it you could spend the night there when you can´t make it back to the main camp.
I would like to add that some of the gameplay did remind me a bit of Dead Island, which isn´t a bad thing because I had fun playing that game. I just hope it won´t be something like Dead Island Riptide because that game was almost an exact copy of Dead Island. It seems that Dying Light is offering more and that´s a good thing, because on the next generation consoles you expect more! To me Dying Light looks like a fun game to play, I guess we´ll have to wait and see if it´s true...
