Games with dlc become unplayable?
It´s nothing new, a game you like to play gets dlc and you have to pay money to get acces to this dlc. You don´t want to pay money for that dlc, but somehow you can´t play the game anymore (at least not as smooth as you did before) and you´re kind of forced to buy the dlc to continue playing the game. Is this fair? No it´s not, but what can you do about it?
If you´ve played CoD games then you´re probably familiar with dlc you have to pay for, especially if you´re a fan of multiplayer and/or the extra mode (zombies, extinction). If you want to get acces to new content then you´ll have to pay, if you decide not to buy this then there is a chance you´ll be kicked out of certain lobbies when you play multiplayer. In CoD Ghosts they made special playlists for dlc maps but eventually they would be added to the standard playlist, if you haven´t bought the dlc by then there would be a chance that you would be unable to play on a certain map because it´s part of a dlc pack that you didn´t buy.
So does that mean you have to buy the dlc or are you going to ignore that and just move on? I guess that depends, because if you truly enjoy playing a game then spending some extra money on it doesn´t seem like the worst thing and if you don´t really enjoy playing a game then it´s probably smarter to move on to another game. That doesn´t make it right though, I hate it that you have to pay for so many things and it´s getting more ridiculous every year. Unfortunately you alone can´t do much about that, you´re just one of many that plays a game and as long as the majority does buy the dlc then developers will keep doing what they´re doing. I don´t think that can be changed just like that, maybe if gamers would unite and massively refuse to buy dlc then you could make a fist against this but I don´t think that will happen anytime soon...
The worst part is probably when the dlc was already in the game, the game you payed for, and when you buy the dlc then you unlock this. So in a way you pay twice for something, I don´t think I have to mention how much that sucks. I get it that you can´t put everything in the game on launch day but sometimes it just feels like developers are trying to bleed gamers dry. If you think vampires don´t exist then you probably haven´t played certain games, because some developers are thirsty for blood...eh money!
It´s not all bad and I do understand that sometimes this is the way it is, but it would be nice that in 2015 it´s a bit more about the gamers and a bit less about filling you pockets with hard earned money from these gamers! It´s not a crime to give gamers free stuff, something that is actually fun and makes people want to play the game. Getting a free shirt for your avatar doesn´t exactly qualify as cool stuff! If you want people to continue to play your game then you have to make it more tempting to play your game, not make it more impossible to play your game!
