Getting hate for winning a game

It might seem silly but in fact this is how it goes in some multiplayer matches, because somehow some people can´t handle the fact that they´ve lost and then ventilate their anger on the person that won. It´s quite childish to be such a poor sport but to even bother someone with hate messages is just ridiculous! So what drives people to respond in such a way?


Often it´s just immature behaviour, people who can´t handle the fact that someone else has beaten them. Other times it´s just frustration, especially if someone constantly wins then it´s not weird for people to dislike someone, you also want to win and if someone stays in a match and wins everything then you´ll probably dislike that person even more. So maybe it´s nice if a winner would switch to another lobby if he or she wins several times in a row, that usually keeps the frustration low and it offers a challenge to the person who constantly wins.


Does it really matter who wins? Well to some people it does, it can go so far that even your own team mates will start to dislike you for winning. Especially if there is an achievement or trophy tied to winning. For example in Assassin´s Creed IV dlc there is an achievement where you have to be the highest scoring person in a domination match while playing as the jaguar character, this means that everyone else is your competitor in this match (yes even your team mates). This doesn´t have to cause problems but you can understand the frustration if someone keeps winning and keeping you from that achievement/trophy.


Yesterday I played some Titanfall matches, just for fun and not really to win or go for achievements. At first my team was terrible, well I was also terrible, and we lost three times in a row. This was mostly thanks to the cowardly tactics of the other team where they would camp the first half of the match and then get into their titans all together in the second half. That doesn´t really make it easier to win! Anyway after three matches some guys left on my team and we got some more experienced players in return. In the next match things were looking better for my team and I could already see how the other team responded, they got angry why suddenly their cowardly tactics weren´t that effective and one guy (the one that was a die hard camper and constantly hides behind his team mates) left the game after only a few minutes. Anyway we kept playing and we won, somehow I was the highest scoring person in my team and I was quite happy with that, but then I suddenly get a message from a guy on the opposite team. It was a hate message telling me how bad I am at the game and I can only win when I´m in a titan. Not only is this message of course a load of bollocks, he accused me of something he and his team did for three matches! But then when one time my team wins suddenly we´re the bad guys. Honestly it´s people like that which keeps a lot of people from playing multiplayer matches, because they don´t want to deal with immature cowardly losers that are a complete waste of time!


So don´t worry what other people say or do, just have fun and if needed mute the fuck out of other people if you just want to have a good time! Yes there are immature douchebags online and yes in multiplayer matches you´ll encounter plenty of these pitiful creatures, but then again it shouldn´t keep you from playing games with others!
