Titanfall, after the hype

A lot of people were excited about this game, it was Titanfall this and Titanfall that. Titanfall would crush Call of Duty and it would be the best game ever. Let´s not forget that people that say things like that are often the same people that comment on almost every CoD video saying how much it sucks. But now more than two months of the Xbox One release and more than a month after the Xbox 360 release I can´t help but wonder, are people still that excited about this game?


In just a couple of weeks I´ve heard a lot of people that were so bored with Titanfall that they went back to CoD Ghosts, yes that game that´s supposedly so bad. What does that say about Titanfall? Of course these are just groups of people, in some cases just individuals that have an outspoken opinion, and they don´t represent the majority but it´s still interesting to see how quickly some people lost interest in a game that was considered to be the best game ever.


What happened to Titanfall? I think nothing really happened to Titanfall, people just expected too much from a game that was clearly just a test and not the final product as they probably want it to be. So it´s not a suprise to me that Titanfall 2 is on the way as I´m typing this. Titanfall offers a lot of interesting things but if you hit prestige a couple of times then you´re probably done with the game, because when you hit prestige it doesn´t really offer anything. Oh sure you level up a bit faster but that doesn´t really mean that you want to go through 50 levels again is it? Also it would be nice if you could unlock a weapon camo or even a titan camo, that would help you create a more unique loadout and you could really stand out from all the other players. But putting some more perks and weapons in the game would also be nice, not that a game really needs that but more is often better!


I still think Titanfall is a good game, it´s a lot of fun and if you stick to playing for a couple of hours a day then it should keep you busy for some time. It´s not a suprise to me that there are a lot of players that have a high prestige level, because you level up pretty quickly and people that play a lot will breeze through the levels. Titanfall is also a game that you enjoy more if you work together with others, because in a lot of game modes that will definately help you win. Especially when the other team is working together! I must admit that I´m disappointed in the dlc, but I guess it can´t all be great...

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? There is nothing wrong about being serious, but I think there is a time and a place for everything. Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
