Talented, pro, veteran, legend

If I have to be honest then I have to admit that I don´t know any legendary gamers, not even any pro gamers. Sure a lot of gamers will consider themselves as a pro but does that really make you one? I think it´s a path that´s only reserved for a few of us, but in my opinion it usually starts with being a talented gamer. You´re good at what you do, others have problems with defeating you and it doesn´t take much effort from you to get good at a game. Of course this doesn´t mean you´re good at every game, sometimes it´s just one genre. But you do seem to stick out of the pack with your skills, which might make your way to a bigger league.

Wether it´s by your own doing or that you´re invited, I think sooner or later really talented gamers will find themselves in the pro circuit. Where you compete with others like you in a championship, often for money and fame. But how good is that fame really? Do you remember any names from people who won a certain championship? I must admit that this eludes me, but then again I can´t say I really find that interesting. Watching others play games has never really been my thing, why watch others when you can play yourself? But that doesn´t take away the skill and talent that these pro gamers have, to compete on a high level with eachother. For some this fame is deadly, because not everyone can handle it that well. But you also have jealousy from other gamers, they want what you have and often harass pro gamers with insults and threats. It´s sad really that people would do something like that, if you don´t like someone then you don´t always have to let them know. Still through all the hardships there comes a time when people consider you more than just a pro, you are considered as one of the elite and make your way to an even more exlusive group.

Veterans are gamers that have played a lot of games, they know what they´re doing and they´re great for advice and tips. I think some of these veterans also make youtube videos, some do it to show off their skills and others actually do it to help others with gaming. But then you also have people who just do it for fun, because they enjoy gaming that much that they want to share this joy with others. But not everyone stays in the world of games, maybe for some veterans it´s a good time to do something else. I don´t think it´s that weird when someone has had enough of games, especially if you spend most of your life in a world full of games. I think veterans have an important part in the world of gamers, they can be a mentor but sometimes they also become more than that.

It´s probably very lonely at the top, to be a living legend in the world of games. As I mentioned before I don´t know anyone who could be considered as a legend but I´m certain that there are people like that. I´m certain that there are people who do know these people and that they aren´t forgotten. It does make me wonder at what age you could be considered as a legend and how long that road is for a talented kid to become a legend? I don´t think that you have to be very old for that, but I wouldn´t call a teenager a legend. Something like that must be earned, through hardship and skill. Well maybe I´m seeing too much into this, but I like to believe that some gamers really can make a difference. To be an example for others, maybe that doesn´t even involve skill or talent. It just means that someone is there to inspire others to be better, not just with gaming but also in treating eachother with some respect. Now that´s someone I could call a legend!
