Looking back at.....Jericho!

Last time I talked about Bully, I think a lot of gamers have heard of that game. But I wonder how many people know about Jericho, have you heard of this game? The official name is Clive Barker´s Jericho, that´s right he´s the one that came with the Hellraiser movies. So this should already give you a bit of an idea what kind of game this is. It´s a bloody adventure with a lot of weird things happening in it. But when you first play it then you might not think that, because it seems just like any other first person shooter. In a way that´s true, but the special trick in this game is that you don´t just pick a character and stick with that character through the level. No you can switch between characters and use their special abilities. Maybe even now you think that this is nothing special, but what if I told you that you still play as one character but he´s dead and he then possesses the other team mates so you can play as them? You probably didn´t see that coming did you?

The main character is dead? No this isn´t a certain movie where the main character was dead all along, no this guy dies during the story but since he dies in a strange magical place his spirit lives on. He can then possess the body of one of his team members and then you control that character plus you use his or her special powers. Yes that´s what I forgot to mention, every team member has his or her own type of weapons and powers. You´re got the heavy weapons guy with a flame spirit that he can use for attack and defense, the telekinetic sniper, the dual wielding priest, the blood witch scrapper, the reality bending hacker and the shotgun shaman. Well that´s usually how I play with them, of course they have more to offer then just that. But at least you can play the game with who you want to play it, eventhough sometimes the game will limit the amount of characters you can choose from. Your character who dies during the game is the team leader and also the healer of the group, but the priest also has healing powers. You can still give orders and then your members will do what you say. Of course your team mates aren´t exactly the happy bunch, so do expect some criticism and a little bit of rebellion every now and then. The conversations between them are sometimes also funny, but when they´re scared then you´ll hear it as they´ll panic and that does have an effect on you.

What is this madness? You travel through different times with your team, which leads you to World War 2, the crusades, Roman times and Sumerian times. Some of the boss fights are not that challenging and usually it doesn´t take you long to figure out how to hurt them. Even on hard mode this game isn´t that difficult, so for everyone who likes to complete a game this might be a good choice. Even if you don´t like the story you still have a great time playing the game, shooting the monsters and using your special powers are actually a lot of fun! But I should warn you, you´re going to see a lot of disturbing things so if you can´t handle that then this is clearly not a game for you! The game has been out for several years so I think you can buy it for a reasonable price, especially for a cheap price this is a game you don´t want to miss. It´s not the best first person shooter I´ve ever played, but it´s fun and I definatley have good memories of this game. As weird as that might sound, because it´s a disturbing game at certain points...
