Bring it back!
Do you have a game that you´d like to see again? Maybe a polished version or perhaps a completely new version on the new consoles? It´s a very sensitive subject for some people, because it´s something they value a lot and they have fond memories of that ´old´ game. So touching that in any way is seen as an act of hostility and is often responded to in such a manner. But how bad is it really to bring an old game back?
I think it really depends on the game and of course how well it´s been made on the new console. Some games barely show any differences, it´s the same game with the same graphics but now you can play it on that console. Personally I find this a waste of time and money, sure it´s nice I can play Resident Evil 2 and 3 on my Gamecube but they look the same as they did on the Playstation! Why not invest in those games as they did in Resident Evil? That game looked so amazing on the gamecube, they even added some new things and I love it! But when I look at one of my favourite games of all times Goldeneye then I´m hugely disappointed in Goldeneye Reloaded. That game is but a glimpse of what the original was, sure it looks better but that says about everything about that game. Many have tried to make a game just like that and failed miserably. Some games are just not meant to be touched again, they´re just perfect the way they are and messing with that in any way will only lead to something bad.
So don´t touch the classics? I wouldn´t say that though, I mean some games could use a new version or at least a polished up version. I´m curious about Dino Crisis with new graphics or Silent Hill with new graphics. I actually like playing the legend of Zelda. Twilight Princes, but somehow I don´t want Nintendo to do that to the legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I guess that has something to do with personal history you have with a game. Sometimes you just don´t want that to be changed, it´s good the way it is and you don´t need a new version of that. Still I like having that game on new consoles, so when I got the Ocarina of Time on the Gamecube with the legend of Zelda: Windwaker then I was quite happy with it. I don´t think it´s all about graphics, some games just go way beyond that and I think some people would agree with me on that point. As long as they handle a game with respect and don´t change anything significant about the game, then I guess it´s ok to bring it to new consoles. Like what they´re doing with Fable Anniversary, it looks nice and I´m happy that they´re doing that. They keep the story the same and yet it´s going to look better, I´d say that´s a bonus. I guess developers aren´t always that evil, well not all the time at least...
