Playing angry
I think most people play games for fun, but the moment the fun ends and the anger begins then it´s usually a good idea to stop. Of course you don´t want to listen to what the best idea would be, no you prefer to keep playing until things go better. But how many times do things really go better when they´re already pretty bad?
There are so many things that make you angry, but most of the time it has something to do with other players. For example someone that didn´t die after you shot the shit out of him or her, you´ll probably accept it once but when that happens a couple of times then the rage meter is probably up to the point of what the fuck is this shit?!!! But you also have people that taunt or harass other players, which really makes you blood boil sometimes. Of course you can block and mute them, but really the fact that someone like that gets away with it is sometimes enough to be annoyed with. But it doesn´t always have to be the fault of another player, sometimes the game just fucks you over. A game that fails to load the next part of the map, your game freezes, you fail through the bottom of the map or an enemy that can´t be killed. More than enough reason to get upset, to say the least.
So you shouldn´t play games when you have anger issues? That would probably be the smartest thing to do, but then again when do we ever do the smartest thing? I think what´s really important is how well you can control yourself, if you´re a violent person and a you have a very low tolerance then playing games might be a mistake. Getting mad at your console is one thing, but unleashing that anger on other people is just wrong. I´ve been there, to be so mad that you want to destroy half the town and yet I never did. Ok it would be pretty impressive if I could pull that off all on my own but deep down inside you keep some common sense. As mad as you get it doesn´t get any better to follow your instincts. But I do think it´s good to let out some frustrations, don´t become a timebomb and leave all those frustrations inside. It makes you miserable and once you can´t contain it anymore then those around you won´t be happy either.
What do I do when I have anger issues and I do want to play games? A good way to deal with anger is to exhaust yourself a bit before you play games, do some push ups or run around with your dog. Because when you´re tired you don´t get mad that quickly, I´m not saying that you won´t get mad but at least it won´t be as quickly as it is when you´re ready to go take on the world. Also it helps if you´re vocal, so if something bothers you then say what it is. Even with no one else in the room, just say that guy is camping or this asshole didn´t die after I shot him three times! It might seem silly but letting that out is better than just letting the frustration boil in you. I would suggest you don´t have your mic plugged in, because that wouldn´t be so nice to listen to. What you don´t want to do is pick fights with other players, it won´t lead to anything and it´s just a waste of time. Maybe you feel better but really you´re probably just talking shit with some underaged douchebag who has no real life. Of course it could be anyone, but my advice is not to waste time on that because it won´t lead you to happiness. Just enjoy the game, have fun and the moment you stop having fun then it´s probably a good idea to take a break. Don´t force yourself to keep playing when you see all the signs that you´re angry, it won´t improve your gameplay and you´ll probably only get more angry.
