When people think you´re not good enough

Have you ever been kicked out of a party or team just because the others thought you´re not good enough to play with them? Usually this is based on your level, but some will also kick you if they just don´t like your gamertag or if you´re not that social. Actually I understand it when people kick others if they don´t communicate, it´s a bit harsh but in some games it really pays off to communicate. In team based games, both competitive and cooperative, it´s often important to communicate and help eachother out. But it´s stupid if you kick someone because their level is lower than yours, some people seem to forget that we´ve all had a point that we were new to the game. How are you ever to learn the game if nobody wants to play with you? To dislike someones gamertag isn´t a good reason to kick a player, unless that gamertag is clearly something unacceptable. For example something that could be considered as a racist remark or insulting to some people.

Why do people kick other players? Well apart from what I just described above it´s sometimes also because they prefer to play with their friends, so they hold a spot or spots open for them. It still suprises me why people don´t make private slots then in the menu so others can´t even join but I guess being lazy is nothing new. Unfortunately not every game seems to have that option, so maybe sometimes it´s just bad luck to join such a group. I don´t think there really is any negative reason behind being kicked, because I doubt that there are people hosting games just to kick people. Sure being kicked because you have a low level seems like a negative reason to be kicked, but as sad as it is they sometimes do have a point. When a mission is very difficult then you don´t want to go in with low levels, because that will make it even more difficult. Maybe it´s nice if you would mention that to the person you kick before you actually kick him or her out of the party.

What should you do when people bully you? It´s not that strange when you´re in an open lobby that some people might be less friendly to you, often they´ve found some information on your profile that they like to use against you. They´ll annoy you with this until you leave, often this has also a reason that they don´t want to play with you and since they can´t kick you they´ll just bully you until you leave. Being an older gamer, I´d say around 40, it´s not fun to be ridiculed by teenagers. But I don´t think many would really know your age unless you put it on your profile, so always be careful what you put there. The mute button is a good way to get rid of annoying voices and to be certain you can also block them, just to be certain you don´t get any messages from them either. Never let yourself be forced out of a lobby like that! If you want to play that game then you have every right to be there! But I wouldn´t blame you if you prefer to play other type of games if competitive games seem to keep giving you these type of team mates or opponents. But age works both ways, sometimes kids are being bullied by ´adults´ because they´re kids and probably don´t know how to play the game. Ridiculous because a kid can learn a game just fine, but not every game might be appropriate for a kid. Of course there are many other reasons why others would bully you, just try not to pay attention to it, remember to use the mute and block button if you don´t want to hear or read their bullshit anymore.

What gives me a good advantage to be accepted in a team? Well I´d say you could host your own game, that way you decide who joins and who gets kicked. So friendly people can join and the annoying people get kicked. But if you don´t feel like hosting then I would definately advice you to practice a lot, get familiar with maps and the controls. Make yourself priceless to a team, so even if they have some kind of grudge against you they´ll still let you join because you´re good. But then you really have to wonder if you want to join a team full of unfriendly people. Also make yourself useful to the team, have some team skills that help you and the others out. Being a healer is a good way to be appreciated, it´s not always a popular class to play so you might actually become popular with that class. But if you play a different type of game then try to put yourself in a position where others would like you to join because you bring something to the team that makes it fun and good to play with you. If all fails you can always go online and look for friendly people that are looking for others to help them, for example to get achievements/trophies. Who knows, a grateful gamer might actually become a good friend!
