Reading profile messages
The time between forming a team and actually playing a match can be longer than you think, especially in Black Ops 2 you can wait a long time if people constantly decide to join and leave. I´m not the impatient type so I prefer to keep myself buys checking my loadouts and if I´m done with that I read profiles. At least if there are people in the lobby and if they have something written on their profile. Something that isn´t always the case, because not everyone puts value into that.
So why would you type anything in your profile? I think it´s a good way of making your profile a bit unique, let people know who you are and what you like or prefer. Maybe you need help with a game, so you can put a message there that you´re looking for other players to help you with a certain game or achievement/trophy. I know some people like to bother other people with messages to help them out, but I don´t think you make a lot of friends that way. For those with humour you can make your profile interesting to read, make a funny comment or tell a hilarious story. People who read and like it will probably comment on it, maybe it´s the start of a new friendship? Filling in your location will make it easier for other people from your country to find you, sometimes it helps break the ice easier when you´re from the same country and you can speak in the same language.
Things you should be careful about when filling in personal information! Remember that other people can read your information, so maybe you want to leave certain things out. For example your adress or phone number, I guess you could put in your Twitter or youtube account but unfriendly people will also read it and you´ll give them more ways to bother you. If you don´t want to give away your real name then that´s perfectly understandable, but try to come up with a cool nickname so people still have something to call you.
What can you figure out from the profile before you even speak with someone? Well I would say that it´s all speculation, but if someone says on their profile that he or she is the best and that you should worship him or her then it´s safe to assume that this person is an idiot. Other messages with tough talk are usually meant to provoke people, sometimes it works and sometimes it´s just something you can read and laugh at. But as I mentioned before there are also messages where people ask for help with a game or when someone is just looking for others to play a game with for achievements/trophies. So it does pay off to check profiles, I´m not saying that they´re all interesting but sometimes you might just find a good one and make a new friend.
What are the funniest messages you´ve read so far? Something I found funny was a message from a girl gamer, she said on her profile: That´s right, you´ve just been beaten by a girl! I think that will make some people mad, but it´s absolutely funny! Another one was when I saw this profile picture of an attractive woman and in the bio it said: While you´re drooling over the picture and reading this text I´ve killed you at least twice! That one was pretty clever and a good tactic, because when you kill someone a couple of times you have a chance that this person will check your profile even in the middle of a match. I´m certain there are many more, I just don´t always have the time to read them all.
