Difficult times for gamers?
I doubt that it´s news that the economy isn´t doing so well, so you´ll probably want to spend your money wisely. But if you´re a gamer it´s difficult to stop buying new games, especially when you look at all the fun games that are out now or will be launching this year and next year! I´m certain your parents or your partner have reminded you how you should be careful how you spend your money, but it´s difficult to let go of something you love to do and playing the same old games all the time gets old real fast. The new consoles don´t make things easier, because most gamers would probably want to buy one of the new consoles but that´s going to cost you a lot as well. Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions and as much as you might hate it you´ll have to let go of things you like. I´m not saying that you can´t play any new games or buy new consoles but it probably will mean that you´ll have to be patient, save your money for that and then once you have enough buy it. Some might call you crazy that you spend your money on something like that, but something who doesn´t like games will probably never understand that.
How do you keep up with the new games and consoles? Well if you don´t have a lot of money to spend then you´ll just have to accept that you can´t keep up with all that, because it´s just too expensive and you´ll get yourself into trouble if you spend more money than you have! I would recommend to make priorities, things you absolutely need and then make a list of things you´d like to get. If you have money left after covering all the things you need, then you can look at the things you want. This means you´ll have to think hard about what you really want! I think now more than ever you´ll be quite annoyed if the game you saved your money for isn´t that great, so you might want to do some research on the internet or read some game magazines. If it´s available you can also play a demo on Xboxlive or PSN to see if the game is really something for you, the best judge for a game is often yourself. But this will mean that you´ll have to let go of games or even consoles you´d like to buy!
The new consoles are tempting but dangerous! You´ll spend a lot of money on a console that makes games look better and the games are probably better, but are the Ps 3 and the Xbox 360 really too old to play games on? I´m still having fun on my Xbox 360 and I don´t see the need to switch to a Xbox One any time soon, I´ll have to admit that the Xbox One doesn´t launch here this year so that certainly helps. But it´s an expensive investment and the small amount of games that launch with it look good but I don´t see myself investing in that just yet. I can play CoD Ghosts and Assassin´s Creed IV on my Xbox 360 (and Ps 3 owners can play it on their console too), so I don´t feel like buying a new console for games I can play on my current console. Sure things look better on the next gen console but really is that worth it? Maybe if the economy was doing better I´d have more money to spend, but right now things are just not that comfortable! The new consoles will still be there next year and with some luck also at a better price, maybe that´s wishful thinking but at least it´s better than spending a lot of money on something you don´t really need right now.
But what about the games that will only appear on the Ps 4 and the Xbox One? Yes that will be difficult to resist. Games like Dead Rising 3, Kingdom Hearts 3, Halo 5 and Ryse will be quite interesting and I´d love to play them. But they´re kind of a forbidden fruit at this moment, because it´s just too expensive for now. If your hobby is playing games then you´ll probably have one of the most expensive hobbies, but that´s ok if you have a lot of money to spend. Unfortunately not everyone has that, a lot of people have to work hard to get some money and probably lose most of it on bills or taxes. Those new games won´t go anywhere, just be patient if you don´t have the money for the new consoles and games that come with it. If others do have money for then that´s good for them, some people are lucky and some people just have more money to spend. It seems unfair but that´s how this world seems to work. It sucks if you can´t play the new games right from the start, but they won´t change just because you buy them months later. You´ll probably want to avoid certain websites for spoilers, because some people have a problem with keeping their mouth shut! Sometimes you just have to make the most of what you have, maybe that´s not a lot but as long as you´re healthy and have people that care about you then you´re richer then you think!
