Music in games
We might all have a different taste in music, but I think it´s safe to say that most people like music. So why not combine something you like with something you like to do? I doubt I´m the only one that listens to music when playing games, but I would like to add that I don´t do that in multiplayer because it´s not nice when others have to listen to your music. But you can always unplug your microphone and listen to your music anyway. Personally it helps me focus and it feels good to have some music playing while you do your thing in the game, it makes it look a bit more cool when you kick ass and have your own soundtrack in the back. But it also makes your defeat a bit more tolerable when you have some nice music to listen to.
But what if the game has some decent music? Of course I don´t listen to my music when there is good music in the game, especially in games like GTA V and Saints Row IV you have a lot of music to choose from. So there´s usually something that you like and in Saints Row you can make your own mix tape so you only listen to the songs you want to listen to. That´s actually something I miss in GTA V, because sometimes there are songs that are less interesting between the songs that are good. Usually that´s a good sign to start a mission or step out of the car! Sometimes I spend minutes in the car standing still just listening to a song, because I´ve already reached my destination and I don´t feel like stepping out just yet. It would be cool if you could buy an iPod or something like that in those games so you can also listen to music while walking, now that would be a nice thing to have!
But not every game has that, some games just have a decent soundtrack. Just look at some of the Final Fantasy games, I doubt you´ll hear anything like that in a game like GTA V! But that´s ok, because every game has its own soundtrack and that doesn´t always need to be the same. I guess you´re seriously screwed if your taste in music is limited, because then you might want to switch to your own music more often. But you´d be missing out on some amazing themes when it comes to Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid and the Legend of Zelda games. Some of these games become even better thanks to the music, because it makes the action moments more intense and the sad moments even more emotional. I think that people who create this music are seriously talented, because it´s not something everyone could do!
