YouTube adventures -83- Let people comment or not?
The comment section below a YouTube video is a good way for the YouTuber to communicate with his or her subscribers. So if you ever had a question for a certain YouTuber then you can try your luck in the comment section and hope that he or she reads the comment and is willing to answer it. But unfortunately there are also people that are offensive and just annoying in the comment section. So it doesn't surprise me that some YouTuber don't want people to comment on their video, which is a missed opportunity in my opinion. YouTubers will have to decide...
Let people comment or not?
It's easy to prevent people from responding but I don't think that's the right way of handling frustrating people. If you get a lot of hate then you can always block that person if he or she isn't stopping, but to prevent everyone from commenting you also hit the people who just want to ask a question or maybe even have some (positive) feedback for you. So I don't think it's a good idea to prevent people from commenting because you affect everyone with that, both the good and the bad commenters.
The good thing about a small channel is that not a lot of people comment, which means I don't have a lot of issues with the comments. Sometimes there are people that leave unpleasant comments but it has never made me want to prevent people from commenting on my videos. I believe that one good comment is stronger than ten bad ones, mostly because the bad comments are usually from trolls or people who have nothing better to do with their time. So don't be discouraged by a bad comment, it's hardly ever worth getting sad about. A lot of people just click on random videos and if they click on one of your videos and they don't like it then the negativity will soon follow. They don't know you and people are often quick with their judgement, so don't let it get to you!
My advice for everyone who doesn't know what to do with the comment section is to just keep it active. Sure there might be bad comments but hopefully there are also positive comments and in my opinion those are worth going through the bad comments. It's a good feeling when someone enjoys your video or finds your video useful. You never know what kind of effect your video has until you read a comment and someone tells you about it. I wouldn't want that taken away from me and I think most YouTubers wouldn't want that either. So if you truly hesitate about keeping the comment section active or not then I would strongly advice you to keep it active. Don't punish everyone just because of some random douchebags.
