CoD WW 2 multiplayer is the worst CoD multiplayer in years?
Let me first say that there are a lot of good things about CoD WW 2, but after enduring a lot of negative moments in multiplayer and also hearing about a lot of negative experiences from other people I can't help but be negative about multiplayer. That doesn't mean I didn't have fun and it was all bad, but there were definitely bad moments that almost ruined it all for me. Here are some examples of what I don't like about CoD WW 2 multplayer.
Connection issues.
One of the biggest issues I had with multiplayer was the connection issues. Several times I lost connection with the server at the end of a match. At first I thought it was some asshole rage quitting that made the match crash but it seems that the connection issues are a Sledgehammer problem which is much worse. Unfortunately for me I kept getting disconnected when I would win a match, I would be in the victory cutscene in war and then suddenly the screen goes black and I would be back in HQ and a text would appear on screen saying that I lost connection. If this happens four or five times on an evening every day then you get annoyed to say the least! But this also happened in other multiplayer modes, of course every time it happened I would've won the match. Eventhough victory was already on the screen I didn't get the victory in my stats and it also didn't progress my weekly order so it would take even longer to complete that. I don't think I have to explain how frustrating that can be, especially if it happens several times on one day and then every day. This got a lot worse after the update last week. So I don't know what they exactly fixed but it feels like to messed some things up as well.
Too much sway.
When you hold a weapon there is some sway, which means that your gun moves around a bit to avoid the laser accuracy with weapons. Since we're all breathing, if you're reading this then I'm definitely convinced that you are, we move around a bit with what we hold in our hands. But in CoD WW 2 multiplayer the movement is weird. It almost always moves to the left in such a way that is weird. This sway has messed up so many shots for me. I think I have an accuracy of 12% on some weapons which is ridiculous. I'm not saying I have an amazing aim but I'm certain it's better than 12% and considering that I have a higher accuracy on sniper rifles it kind of makes me wonder if the sway is just over the top ridiculous for the other weapons. So why is my accuracy higher with sniper rifles? Well I usually crouch or I'm prone when I use sniper rifles and that takes away almost all the sway. Even when I was standing up straight I had better aim with sniper rifles than any other weapon. Let me tell you that I'm not a good sniper and yet I have the highest kill ratio and best accuracy with sniper rifles. An accuracy of over 70%, which is insane if you knew how bad I am with sniper rifles. So that really makes me wonder how bullshit the sway is in multiplayer. Apparently sitting still somewhere crouched or prone will make it much easier to get you kills then moving around. Which brings me to another issue with CoD WW 2 multiplayer.
Too many campers.
CoD games have always been full of campers but it has never been as bad as now. At first I didn't understand, why is nobody moving? But when I learned about the sway issue and how this is fixed if you're crouched or prone it suddenly made sense, why move and have a harder time hitting a target when you can just wait for someone to come to you. This also explains why I would often have a hard time hitting someone or killing someone in CoD WW 2 multiplayer when I was running around from objective to objective. The people sitting somewhere crouched woul always have an advantage on me, which is of course ridiculous that you would benefit the camper. Honestly that is something that I can't and won't accept! Because now I have objective matches, this is absolutely horrible in war matches when nobody is on the objective, where nobody moves forward and the attacking team is nine out of ten times screwed if you have a team that doesn't move or doesn't play for the objective. I've been in matches where my five team members would pick the sniper or the rifle weapons and sit in the back shooting at people instead of helping me with the objective. Try to build a bridge in the breakout mission in war when you're the only one on the bridge and your team mates don't help in any way. Yeah great times. This is really what made me want to quit CoD WW 2 multiplayer, because if Sledgehammer thinks that campers need to get the benefit and you get punished for moving around then I'm done. I'm not even talking about the sad sack of shits that dropshot or quick scope, because that is a whole different topic and I just want to be done with this game.
Not a bad game but not a keeper?
I enjoyed playing the campaign, I enjoyed playing zombie mode and had some fun in multiplayer. But I'm done with the game, I don't want to play multplayer anymore and I don't see myself buying the dlc. The game feels broken to me and it's more frustration than fun for me. So the moment I reached prestige in multiplayer I knew that I was done with the game. I won't say that the game is terrible but it feels just wrong, too many things are just lame and I just can't bring myself to play the game any longer because I find myself screaming at my tv in frustration when I lose connection again, when the stupid sway makes you miss an easy kill and when once again I'm in a match where everyone seems to camp. That makes CoD WW 2 multiplayer unplayable for me, I got what I wanted out of the game and now I'm done with it! I hope you enjoy it but if you are frustrated by it just like me then I would recommend you not to keep playing it, there are enough other games out there that are more fun and by far not as broken.
