I hate Monday: When a game doesn't save your data
Is there anything worse that can go wrong in a game? I mean not being able to save your data has got to be one of the worst things that can happen in a game. Imagine doing all that effort and getting through so many difficult moments to realize that the game won't save your progress because of some stupid bug or other reason. I bet you would be so pissed off at that moment because it means that all the troubles you had to go through were for nothing. That's enough to make me angry and unfortunately it happens too many times in certain games.
Your game doesn't save your data?
It seems silly but it happens, oh yes it happens and even with the newest games this is still an issue. Just look at the Sims 4, a fun game but it has this awful save bug that makes it impossible to save your game when you travelled somewhere. Somehow this is an issue that completely makes it impossible for me to complete certain goals and it restricts me to my own house, which isn't terrible but it does cut you off from half the game and that is lame. I discovered this on Friday and it just fucked me over so hard, I lost almost two hours of progress in the game and that was frustrating to say the least. So apparently these save bugs are still in games and it's still as annoying as it was twenty years ago. I really wish developers would test their games properly so these kind of issues can be prevented but with EA you know that making money comes first, customer service always comes second...or third. No matter how much fun a game is when you can't save the game then what's the point of playing it? Do you plan to keep it on for days just to be able to finish a game? But what's the point of finishing the game? The game doesn't save your data and it's as if you never played the game once you turn your computer or console off. Have save issues in a game is really one of the worst things that can happen, it makes a game impossible to play and also unable to truly enjoy when everything you do isn't saved.
Save issues are the worst thing that can happen?
Ok I'll admit there are worse things but I know for certain that not being able to save your game has got to be a top three nomination for most annoying things that can happen in a game. Losing all your progress is worse, because then you already had progress and you thought everything was good and then you find out you lost all of that. This is what happened to me in the Evil Within 2, also a new game, and it almost ruined everything. With some luck I managed to restore things so I didn't lose everything, just two hours or progress, so I consider myself lucky because if that would happen in a game like Dragon Age Inquisition or the Witcher 3 you could've lost days or maybe even weeks of progress. That would be enough to drive someone mad with rage! But this doesn't take away the the fact that there are still save issues, one of the things you want to make certain that works in a game. I honestly don't understand how developers let this slip through the cracks because a save issue is one of the worst things and you never ever want to have that in your game. I guess that says a lot of about the developer of that game, because something like that should never happen and if it happens then I get the idea that the game was never properly tested and that is just amateur behaviour. I'm actuallly quite upset that there is another game out there that has these save issues because it makes it almost impossible to enjoy that game. I'm getting sick and tired of buying new games that have these type of issues. I know that bugs and glitches sometimes happen but I can't help but feel like this save bug issue could've been prevented with some proper testing. I'm not an expert but honestly it feels like the Sims 4 was shoved forward to cash in some big bucks and the issues will be dealt with later. I guess that I can enjoy playing this game also later, like next year when maybe this issue is fixed. Sigh...
