Do you ever play a game again once you beat it?

Playing games is fun, but once you beat a game there is this moment where you have to decide to play it again or move on to another game. Often when there are multiple games that I want to play I have to pick one and the moment I beat that game I want to move on to the next one, but that doesn't mean that I forget about the game I just finished. Sometimes there are achievements or other things I want to discover, so it's not always so simple to just move on to the next game. Sometimes you just want to keep playing that one game.

You're never truly done with a game?

I wouldn't go that far but there are definitely games that I somehow go back to. Resident Evil is a good example of that, the game is now more than twenty years old and somehow I still play it. Ok the game looks a lot better now and the remake offers a lot of new and interesting things but it's still Resident Evil. I know the story, I know what happens and where I need to go but I keep playing it every now and then. It's just one of those games you really enjoy playing and you can't really let go of such a game that means so much to you. Another game I really enjoy playing is Skyrim, the game isn't as old as Resident Evil but I see myself return to that game as well every now and then, it's such a good game that offers you so much. I bet I haven't even discovered all the secrets in that game and that's cool, that means the next time I play it I can try and discover those secrets or just discover new places to visit. Certain games just offer you a lot or just give you such a good feeling when you play it that you just want to keep playing them. But too much of something isn't a good thing, which is why I do take breaks from certain games. Games like Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch and Dragon Age Inquisition are all fun games but you need breaks from these games. Too much of something is just not good and it will make you hate a game if you keep playing it for too long. At least that's what often happens to me and I really hate it when that happens because it can ruin a really fun game for you.

The achievement/trophy grind keeps a game alive?

A lot of times I end up playing a game again just to get some more achievements. Most recently I did that with CoD WW 2, just to get some more campaign achievements. Of course it's easy to ignore that and jump into multiplayer or zombie mode but I do like earning some extra achievements and most of the campaign achievements are pretty easy to get. So why ignore that when you can get some of those without too much trouble. Some games are a bit extreme with that. For example certain games will throw a lot of collectibles in a game or put several difficulty achievements/trophies in a game. I can't say I'm a big fan of that but it does keep the game alive a bit longer, at least if you care enough to get all those achievements or trophies. I personally like to get as many achievements from a game but I don't have this urge to get all of them in every game. The moment a game is no longer fun for me to play or I feel like I got out of the game what I could then it's time for me to move on. There isn't really a specific time limit for me when it comes to playing games, I can have fun with a game for weeks and there are games that are only fun for a couple of days. Of course I always try to pick the games that stay fun for weeks but unfortunately you can't always know that before you buy the game. But going back to a game is definitely not a bad thing, I actually like certain games enough to play them from the start to the end. Especially certain games like the Telltale games that have different endings based on the choices you make. Of course you can look those different endings up on YouTube but I think it's more fun to play the game again and make some different choices to see what kind of ending you get. Some games are just worth it.
