Sinful Sunday: Scumbag tactics
I would never encourage people to use scumbag tactics against strangers you play against in an online game, but against your friends it can be a fun and even hilarious experience. Also it often improves your chances on winning, so why wouldn't you use scumbag tactics? Oh right because they're scumbag tactics...
What is a scumbag tactic?
Scumbag tactics are when you use dirty tricks to win. This can be physically or mentally, both work well and it can be a lot of fun to use them against your friends. Your friends might not be that happy with it but when you play a game these type of things just happen, especially if you really want to win! Some examples of scumbag tactics are pulling the controller out of the hands of your friend, poking your friends in the side when they need to concentrate, distracting them with nonsense when are trying to solve a puzzle or deliberately giving them wrong answers to make it harder for them to find the right answer. I know this makes me look like a terrible person, maybe I am a terrible person, but don't think my friends wouldn't use this against me! In all honesty it's just for fun and hopefully most of my friends realize that. So far I've never had one of my friends get mad at me, eventhough some probably wanted to strangle me for one of my scumbag tactics.
Do scumbag tactics really work?
Absolutely! Last week I was playing Trivial Pursuit with a friend and she had to answer a question. She knew the answer but I made her doubt that answer, then I pretended to give the right answer by accident. So she used that answer and it turned out to be wrong. A classic scumbag tactic, pretend to help while you're deliberately giving them false information. Her reaction was hilarious, which made it even more fun! But you can also just distract people or say silly things to make someone laugh, just see how good someone is at a game when they can't stop laughing! You should keep in mind that not every tactic works in each situation, some people are also very resistant against these scumbag tactics. Just try to find out what works and what doesn't work. Also try to mix things up a bit, if you keep using the same tactic then sooner or later it's going to be less effective.
Doesn't someone get mad?
Sometimes, but this is why I suggest you only do this with friends. Because with your friends you often mess a round a bit and you can take that from eachother, at least if you're good friends. With strangers this can be a completely different story. You don't know how they'll respond and they can get mad at you. Maybe you find it funny when people get mad at you but my use of scumbag tactics is just for fun and not to truly upset people. It's to give me a small advantage and sometimes that's enough to win. But as useful as these scumbag tactics are I prefer to only use them against my friends, that keeps things fun and I know they can take it.
