The Sims 4 for console, a great game but it needs some work

Last week I was super excited about the Sims 4 and I didn't play it that much, I was really disapointed when I discovered some frustrating bugs in the game which really made me want to stop playing at a certain point. The save bug was the worst, that moment when you discover you can't save your game anymore, which means you have to restart the game and that means you lose all the progress you made since you last save. For me that was almost two hours of gameplay! It's difficult to stay excited about the game but I kept playing and if you save every ten minutes you have less risk but it's definitely frustrating!

Fun but frustrating?

That's a good way to describe the Sims 4, it's absolutely a fun game but there are certain bugs in the game that make it also a frustrating experience. For example sims that respond poorly to commands or just ignore them completely, sound glitches that make it difficult to listen to music or hear the sims talk, the save bug that I mentioned earlier and messages or action icons that stay stuck on screen. Some of these aren't big issues but when you add it all up it's not fun and can add some frustration to your game. Does it ruin the entire game? Well I wouldn't go that far, since the update of Tuesday I haven't had any problems with the save bug (knocking on wood) and the game seems to run a bit smoother. But it still has some of the bugs I mentioned earlier and it's still not as good as I would like to see it. I do think it's worth checking out this game, especially if you're a fan of the previous Sims games, but you should be prepared for some of these bugs. Once you get used to the bugs a bit and you don't get upset whenever the game has one of these issues then you could definitely enjoy this game. No it's not a smooth ride but it's still a pretty sweet ride. I'm definitely having fun playing the game and I'm even playing without the cheats. I'm busy unlocking the achievements so I can't activate the cheats or that will prevent me from earning achievements. I have to admit that the game plays pretty good without cheats, you can earn money really fast now. Just write some books, some music and paint some paintings next to your day job and you can easily earn over 10.000 a day! Building is also pretty smooth, you can build rooms that are already decorated and ready to be placed. You can pick a colour and just put it down where you want to put it. So for lazy builders like myself that is perfect!

Should you get this game?

Last week I was pretty certain that you should get this game but now I'm a bit more careful. It's a fun game but it can definitely frustrate some players, the issues aren't all fixed and that makes it still a bit of a frustration experience at certain moments. Especially when you're in a hurry and your sims are just ignoring your commands, that are moments when you feel like throwing the controller at the screen. I hope that gets fixed and that the Sims 4 will be a smooth ride without any bugs and glitches. The dlc is a bit expensive but I don't regret buying the vampire dlc, it offers a lot of new things and having a vampire sim is very useful and effective! You hardly need any sleep and you don't have to go to the bathroom anymore, you only need to drink once (if you take a lot of plasma from one sim) a day so that leaves so much time to do other things. You can upgrade your vampire with new skills with each new rank and that even means being able to walk outside during the day! I hope that the other dlc will drop in price a bit because right now it's an expensive collection to get it all. As a fan of the Sims games I really enjoy the Sims 4 and despite the bugs I don't regret buying the game. I just hope that these bugs all get fixed soon so I can enjoy the game even more!
