I hate Monday: When someone absuses his or her microphone

Communication is important, especially in some games where you have to work together to improve your chances on winning. Unfortunately a lot of people don't see the value in that and refuse to communicate, then there are people who do use a microphone but seem to use it for other reasons. These reasons often involve annoying other people and letting everyone else know what is going on in their room. Great...

Using your mic to annoy others?

It might seem weird but there are people who do this. Sometimes I get the feeling that this happens more on the consoles but perhaps pc gamers have this issue as well. One of the annoying things people do is play loud music, not only does this almost blast your ears off it's often also shitty music which if in most cases just loud noise. Not something you want to hear, especially not when you're in a game trying to win some matches. I've seen people do that when they won a match but also when other people won a match, I guess to try and annoy them with their shitty music (if you can even call that music). There are also people that make random noises and I don't know what the function of that really is. Either they try to annoy others or they're so bored that they just end up making weird noises. Some people also try to annoy people by commentating on all kinds of things, try to distract them or insult them. It sucks when you're the first to die in a match and you have to wait until the round is over but do you really have to annoy the other people on your team? I guess some people have to do that because they can't stop doing that!

Some people don't know they're hot micing?

Or some people really don't give a fuck that they are hot micing. The first thing you probably wonder is what is hot micing? It's when you talk to friends or make other noises that you probably don't want others to hear but you left your mic on and so everyone else can hear it. This happens actually quite a lot in the games I've played. For example in Rainbow Six Siege where some guy was talking shit about another player and he didn't realize that his mic was still on. But this also happened in Fortnite where some guy was sick and he kept his mic on, so we kept hearing this guy sniffing and coughing the entire match. I actually had to mute this guy because I really didn't want to listen to that for the next twenty minutes! In CoD, but also other games, I often hear kids argue with their mother about staying up a bit longer. Again this person forgot to turn off his or her mic and so we can all hear the shouting between mother and child. Yeah absolutely amazing when you try to listen where the enemy is and you constantly hear this squeaker in your ear. This is exactly why I always have my mic muted, only when I want to say something to other players I turn my mic on. This way I don't bother other people with random noises or if I get frustrated let others listen in on that. As funny as that might be to some it's of course not nice to yell at your team mates eventhough sometimes some people kind of deserve it when they ignore the objective or literally do nothing.

Who still uses a mic?

I actually used a mic a lot, but on the consoles the mic isn't used that often and when people use it you often hear people you don't want to hear. For example someone who sounds like he's got the mic in his throat, then there are others who have a poor quality mic which makes it difficult to understand what they say and people I talked about earlier who try to annoy you or don't realize that they're hot micing. Not really people you want to talk with or have any real conversations with. I think the last time I really talked with someone online was in Overwatch in a ranked match which has been several months. People just don't like to talk online, at least not with strangers and I can't say I blame them I have days where I don't feel like being that social, especially not with other people online. But I usually don't play games that pretty much require communication on those days. We all got a mic with our console when we bought the console but somehow most people don't use it. Maybe some people aren't that social, others might have lost the mic or broke it and then there are people who are just shy and prefer not to talk to others or don't know what to say. In a lot of games you have to work together and teamwork is important, but when nodoby talks or is abusing his or her microphone then it becomes really hard to win or get anything done. I guess sometimes it's just better to play a single player game so you don't have to worry about the mics.
