YouTube adventures part -32- Dislikes for no reason at all

No matter how funny, helpful or interesting your video is there will always be peopel that dislike it. That is at least if people are bothered to click on your video in the first place. Why do some people dislike videos? You'd be surprised that a lot of times people dislike a video just because they feel like it or because they can dislike it. I guess I don't have to explain that some people are just sad sacks of shit but hey there you have it, people aren't always nice and yes some of them will just...


Dislike your video for no reason at all.


I personally don't care that much about likes and dislikes, because I know my videos aren't good and if people really feel the need to dislike that then that says more about them than about me. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate likes, but I would never ask for likes because I find that distasteful. Besides if people really like your video then they will like it, at least that makes sense to me because that's what I do.


Some time ago I decided to make some helpful videos, I didn't do it for any other reason just to help people. Maybe no a real achievement guide but at least I gave players some helpful tips and showed them where they could find some rare ingredients for a recipe that's tied to an achievement. I must admit that I didn't expect that many people to watch my video and even getting likes, but as I expected I also got dislikes.


When someone dislikes your video then that's not a big problem for me but I would like to know why someone would dislike your video. Was the video not helpful for that person? Did they not like the sound of my voice? Do they hate the low quality of the video? But no, you hardly ever get a reason why someone dislikes your video. There are just people out there that seem to move from video to video and leave dislikes. Which actually makes me pity them, because that seems like a sad life to me.


I personally never dislike videos, even when I don't like them at all or someone makes a stupid prank video. I just leave and never watch it again, I don't see how giving a dislike is making me feel better about it. In a way it's a victory for the person who made the video because the dislike still means that someone watched his or her video. Maybe not all of it but leaving a dislike means you were there long enough to click on the thumbs down, which is longer than me when I really don't like a video.

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
