Never playing a game again?

When you first play a game and you really enjoy playing that game then you can't imagine that there will be a day that you won't ever play that game again. This happens to me a lot, because when you first play a fun game it seems like you'll always have time to play that game. But with new games coming out and eventually new consoles it's easy to forget about a game or just stop playing that game because you rather play new games on your new console. But does that mean you never play the game again? Perhaps...

Never say never?

When I sold my N64 and all my games with it I knew I would regret that eventually, mostly games like the legend of Zelda: the ocarina of time and Goldeneye 64. I didn't think I would ever play these games again but eventually I actually did play those games again. Ok Goldeneye was a remake on the Xbox 360 so it wasn't exactly the same but it was still nice to at least get a bit of a feeling of the game again. But the legend of Zelda: the ocarina of time I did play again on my Gamecube, which was great because I really missed playing that game. The same can be said about Resident Evil, because after the Playstation version I hadn't played it for years until the remake came out on the Gamecube and that was even better than the original! So I don't think you should say that you'll never play a certain game again, because sometimes you get a second chance on another console or you could always plug in your old console and play some games you haven't played in a long time. Another game I really like and is coming back to current gen consoles is Skyrim, which is great for the fans to get back into a fantastic game without having to go back to their last gen console.

But what happens when you never play that game again?

Then you can at least have good memories of that game. I know that there are dozens of games out there that I haven't played for many years, some maybe even two decades, and that's fine because I still have good memories of those games. Sure I miss playing these games every now and then but it's the memories of those games that keep them alive in my head and in a way makes me happy that I at least had a time and a place to play them. It's not the same as actually playing them but you should keep in mind that sometimes games are a bit better when you think about them then when you actually play them again. So perhaps it's a good thing that certain games remain in your memories as a good game and you keep them that way by never playing them again, because that keeps you from tainting these memories with frustrations and irritations that you might get if you would play them again. But as I mentioned earlier, never say never because maybe sometimes old games get a second chance and you get a chance to play them again.
