ReCore, platform shooter FTW?
When I first saw ReCore I was interested, it really looks good and offers something different in the line up of so many other types of games. Especially on the Xbox One there aren't a lot of platform games, if you mix third person shooter with that you get a pretty awesome game. But how good is ReCore really?
Shoot and jump?
That would be way too simple to describe the game, because the game offers some good challenges in the form of enemies that require good team work with the right robotic ally and ammunation while you also have platforming challenges that will test your reflexes and timing. Which is fun for some and can be extremely frustrating for others. You should keep in mind that the controls for ReCore are pretty sweet so you don't have to struggle with platforming, once you get used to your double jumps and glides you should be more than ready to deal with some platform challenges. The fighting in ReCore is pretty fun as well, but can be challenging at certain points. Choosing the right robotic ally for the fight can make a big difference and also using the right type of ammunition. Maybe it feels repetitive to some gamers but the beautiful environment combined with smooth controls and good reflexes can turn ever fight into something memorable.
It's a short game?
From what I heard it's not a big game, if you didn't have to back track for several side missions (which is lame by the way) then you should be done within ten hours but if you go for all the side missions then you could add another ten hours to the game. Of course getting stuck at a platforming moment can of course add extra time to the game but I doubt that's something to be happy about. I guess it depends on your expectations for this game how you feel about all this. If you expected a big adventure and constantly moving forward in that adventure then you're mistaken, there are times when you have to go back to previous areas for side missions. Maybe some of you are a bit disappointed but let's make one thing clear, ReCore isn't a bad game! I think ReCore could've been better, but that still doesn't make it a bad game. Feel free to check it out if you're interested or wait until the price drops a bit if you're not completely convinced at the moment.
