Why are controllers so expensive?
This is a serious question because I've spent a small fortune on controllers in the last two decades on controllers, because they're not just expensive they're also quite fragile! Since you can't play games without a controller, at least with most console games, this is something that can really screw people over. Because you often just get one controller with your console so if you want to have another one so your friend can play a game with you on the couch then you already have to pay a lot of money for a controller which is ridiculous!
I love/hate controllers?
I'm not going to lie to you, I prefer using controllers over everything else when it comes to playing games. A controller is easy to use and is more comfortable to handle, leaning on my keyboard is good for typing but with gaming it just makes it uncomfortable to hold my hands in certain positions on the keyboard. I guess we all have our favourite way of playing games but I think a lot of people will agree that controllers are fun and easy to use. My problem with controllers is that they're so expensive and that they're fragile. So not only do you spend a lot of money on a controller, about as much as you would on a new game (about 55 Euros), but they also break really fast which means you'll have to buy a new one if you want to be able to play games. Which is very frustrating!
Controllers are fragile?
You might not expect that when you see them and for the price you have to pay you would expect to get something more durable but unfortunately controllers are fragile. For certain games you have to wildly move the analog sticks or rapidly press certain buttons on the controller, doing this too much or too hard and you can already damage the controller which is of course ridiculous. I mean the game pretty much requires you to do it so it's ridiculous that it breaks because of that. So you either can't play the game or you need another controller and as I mentioned before that's expensive!
Why are controllers expensive?
Apparently it's a delicate piece of work that is worth a lot of money, at least that's the impression I get from controllers. But above all controllers are in high demand, we all need them and as long as people need a lot of controllers the price will stay up and won't drop down. Because when the demand is high then who on earth would drop the price? So we're being drained for more money, which is perfectly clear here. That sucks but unfortunately this can't be avoided, because if you want the official Xbox or Playstation controllers then you have to pay some serious money for it! The thing is that controllers weren't always this expensive, but with the current gen consoles they're very close to the price of a new game and that's just too much. I understand that Microsoft and Sony want to make money but please stop being greedy and give gamers a break. Either make controllers more durable or make them less expensive, because the way things are now it just sucks!
