Battlefield 1 beta, bigger is better?
I'm not going to lie, I never played a Battlefield game before and I previous would always play CoD games. Why? Because I prefer smaller maps and I'm not a big fan of vehicles on the battlefield because there are always douchebags that pretty much play most of the game in a vehicle and they can be a bitch to kill when they're in an armored vehicle. But with the new CoD game looking less interesting and Battlefield taking you to World War I it's just too difficult to resist the temptation of playing this game and I must admit it's a lot of fun!
Big open battles are better than the small skirmishes on CoD multiplayer maps?
If I have to be honest then I prefer the smaller maps, which means I don't have to run around for a couple of minutes to find an enemy and not get shot by a sniper from a mile away and then have to start all over. But there are vehicles and there is also cover, play smart and you might actually get things done in Battlefield. If you play like a noob, like me, then you'll have a hard time. But that doesn't mean that it's not fun to play on the big open maps, it gives you a lot of space and freedom to do what you want. Of course there are objectives, but you can just go your own way if you want to and hunt down some enemies.
Conquest and Rush mode, which one is better?
I personally prefer Rush a bit more because it pretty much keeps things closer to you on the map, most enemies will be exactly where you expect them and with the objectives there are usually people around to help you or at least fight at your side. Conquest mode is huge and devides the map in several points you must capture to win, which means if you have no coordinated attacks or at least some team communication that you're going to lose. In Rush I actually managed to explode several bombs on my own and also defended bombs on my own for some time. Of course it's still a team effort but actually having a better chance on your own without having to depend on a vehicle is really refreshing! Of course some people will immediately climb in vehicles or pick the scout class and play sniper but it's all still fun to play!
Is it worth checking out the beta?
I think it is, mostly because it gives you a feeling for the game and what you can expect. The problem is that a bunch of douchebags are making it hard for players to get into the beta because of DDoS attacks which cripple the servers. If you do manage to get into the game you're in for a treat and eventhough there's only one map and two game modes you still have a good time with this and it should help you get familiar with the game and the controls. Especially as a new player you should play the beta and get familiar with the controls, because walking around like a moron like me doesn't help you or the team. It's unclear when the beta ends and with the severs being offline because of the DDoS attacks I think we might get some more time. Anyway good luck and have fun in Battlefield 1!
