Rage quitting is normal?

It doesn't really matter what type of competitive online multiplayer game you play, it seems that rage quitters are everywhere and it also happens a lot. This is something that makes me wonder what happened to gamers over the years that we went from just having fun to the taking things so serious type of way to play.

Rage quitters are losers?

Well you're not wrong actually, rage quitters are usually people that are losing a lot or are about to lose and then decide to leave the game because they can't handle the you've been defeated text on the screen. I don't think people were ever happy with losing but I don't remember this being such a big things a decade ago, I mean when you play a game there's always a good chance that you lose. There's a 50% chance that you lose, so that's pretty big and that makes it quite acceptable that sometimes you just lose a game. I doubt many people will leave a game when they're winning unless they get killed a lot, maybe because of team killing or maybe because they disconnected which isn't actually rage quitting but just bad luck.

Why do people rage quit so much?

Because some people would rather leave the match than to deal one more second of being in a match where things aren't going their way. Sometimes it's just a lot of frustration and irritation that makes them want to leave because they can't stand their team failing and so they would rather leave than spend more time with that team. Above all it's easy, usually with one press of the button you can leave a match and then with another press of the button you can find another match. I personally don't always see the logic in that, because if you spend ten minutes in a match and then leave just before the end you miss out on the experience that you could use to level up and maybe get another cool stuff. So rage quitters are usually not that smart either, at least when it comes to this. But rage quitters are definitely not team players, because they pretty much fuck over the team by leaving early and letting them face the other team with a player less on their team making it that much harder for that team to win. I also think that people these days just can't handle defeat that much, it's like people would rather rage quit than to spend one second looking at the you've been defeated text on the screen. People are angry, which is something I do understand actually because I also get angry quickly but the big difference between me and a rage quitter is that I try to finish the match and then leave. Sure you can get mad at someone or something, but keep in mind that it's just a game and in the end does it really matter if you win or lose? I don't think so!

What can you do against rage quitters?

Games like Overwatch give players a big experience debuff, which means they earn 75% less experience for a certain amount of time, if they rage quit several times in a short amount of time. Some people think this is dumb but I think it's a good thing because it's very annoying when people constantly leave the team when things aren't going so well. That makes it harder for your team to win and it's not fun when you lose almost every match because people keep rage quitting during the match. Then there are also games that make it impossible for you to play multiplayer for some time if you rage quit, which is also a good penalty. I would like to see a multiplayer game that puts rage quitters in the same match, so these type of people can all enjoy eachothers company and endure the frustration of having people leave on your team all the time while people who can play the entire match can play games together without rage quitters.
