Infinity Ward is making another mistake?

Making a futuristic first person shooter when the majority of the players scream for something different is a mistake, but it seems that some people can't help but make multiple mistakes. What am I talking about? Well I'm talking about the multiplayer beta for CoD Infinite Warfare. Not only is the beta only for people who pre-ordered the game, the second half of the beta (for Xbox One players it's the only time they can play the beta) is when Battlefield 1 launches. I don't know about you but I'm not going to pre-order a game I'm not that excited about to be able to play a beta that is available when a game launches I am excited about.

Why isn't it an open beta?

Battlefield 1 made a smart move, the beta was available for everyone and you didn't need to pre-order the game or anything like that. They also did their beta when no other games came out that people would rather play at that moment. But not Infinity Ward, no they make their beta only for people that pre-order their game. I mean what's the point of that? Isn't a beta there to convince players to play your game? If you already have to pre-order the game then there is no need for a beta just a couple of weeks before releasing the game. If they did this in the Summer then that would've been a smarter move, even if you first had to pre-order the game eventhough I think it's a much smarter move to make it an open beta so everyone that is interested can check it out. This way you have a much bigger chance to attract players to your game and they might then be interested in buying them.

Bad timing?

The timing is also dumb, because not only does Infinity Ward give Playstation 4 players a weekend before (on the 14th of October) the Xbox One players acces to the beta, the Xbox One players get their beta acces at the same moment when Battlefield 1 launches on the 21st of October which is a bold and in my opinion dumb move. Because who is going to play the beta when you can play Battlefield 1? Oh maybe there are some CoD fans that would do it but I think the majority will probably want to play Battlefield 1. I understand why they did it, they're rivals and so they will make this move. But looking at the negativity around CoD Infinite Warfare and people hating the game with a passion then you can't really afford these type of risks. I would try to reach as many people as possible and that doesn't work with the pre-order only acces to the beta and making the beta launch for people on one console on the same date as the launch of a popular first person shooter. That's just asking for trouble. But hey good luck to you Infinity Ward and who knows maybe some people will pick Infinite Warfare over Battlefield 1.
