Youtube adventures part 6

There comes a time where you have to decide if you want to continue with something or if you want to quit, no I'm not talking about the channel itself but some videos you made. For example you have a weekly video on your channel and you really like making it, should you continue with that when hardly anyone watches those videos? I think the logic answer would be to quit, but in truth it's not logic that should motivate you to make videos and then upload them. It's you having fun and doing something you like. So it makes sense you continue with your videos, even if most people don't like it or just don't watch it then at least you can say that you like it and that you're having fun with it!

Quit or continue?

I've tried many things over the years with my youtube channel, I had weekly videos and I made a playthrough series about certain games. Usually they start with several viewers but then a couple of weeks in there is less and less interest in those videos. Which sucks because I put a lot of work in making some of those videos. But for me it's not about getting a lot of views, I just want to have fun doing something I like to do. Which in this case is playing games and making videos of me playing games. I know that a lot of people won't like it, but it's always nice when people do like it. I guess I sometimes just hope that people will like some of my videos, not because I'm so desperate for attention but because it's nice to see that people appreciate what you're doing. Let's be honest, I think we all like some appreciation every now and then!

Unfortunately things don't always go your way, sometimes things go horribly wrong as in nobody watches your videos and you lose the interest in making more videos. Then you really have to ask yourself if you should quit with the videos or continue with making more of those videos. It's not a bad idea to take a break, to try something new and if people really like it then they should speak up and tell the youtuber that they want to see more of those videos. Pushing yourself to constantly make more videos leads to you being unhappy and also a lower quality of videos.

I can understand that some people don't want to give up, but I'm not saying that you should give up but maybe take a break and try something else. You could make other videos, you could stick to your genre (for example if you make videos about games then you can stick to that subject but switch to other type of games or try uploading videos of you playing games with other people) but you could also try something different. How about you uploading videos about real life situations? It might be a poor attempt at comedy or it could turn into some boring crap and yet it might just work. If you never try you'll never know!

The trick is to find the motivation to keep going, because when things don't go so well with your channel then it's difficult to keep going without some motivation! Don't be so quick to give up, not every channel that is succesful now started out great. Some had to struggle just like you in the beginning and if they gave up they never became big now. Unfortunately not every channel gets big, it's more realistic to assume that only a handful of channels will make it big. But I don't think that should be your goal, your goal is to do something you like and hopefully entertain people with your videos. Maybe that doesn't give you a lot of subscribers or earn you any money but at least you do something that makes you happy and not everyone can say that!
