Are you addicted to playing games?
You're probably thinking that this isn't a serious question but I'm really curious if you would notice if you're addicted to playing games. Even if you would play games every day and play them for ten or more hours, then it wouldn't surprise me that some people don't see the problem with that. Not that it's such a bad thing, but if you have to go to school and/or work then that doesn't really seem to go well together...
Some people don't know that they're addicted to playing games?
There's also a chance that some people just don't care or they think they've got things under control, but if every day exists out of you playing games for a lot of hours then you might be addicted and you don't even realize that! This isn't a terrible addiction but I can't say that it's a healthy addiction either, maybe some people learn to mix their hobby with doing other things but often a lot of gaming addicts spend all day in the house doing nothing else but playing games. Not really the most healthy way of living your life and also not the most productive way of living your life. I'm not here to tell you how you should live your life, but wouldn't you want to get more out of your life than just playing games?
How do you become addicted to playing games?
That's easier then you might think, it usually requires a computer and/or console and a lot of games (eventhough some people are already spending hundreds of hours on just one or two games) plus some spare time. Not that you would really need spare time because some people don't go to school or work and just stay at home playing games, that usually doesn't lead to good grades and also usually means you're not employed for long. If you play games that you really like and you spend a lot of hours on a day almost every day on playing games then you know that you're addicted and it usually starts with just spending more time than usual on a game. Not that it's so terrible to enjoy playing a game, but spending most of the day on that game might be a bit too much.
Is it such a bad thing to be addicted to playing games?
You probably don't see a problem with that but in truth it can be a problem. For example you lose contact with family and friends because you spend all day playing games, you become fat and lazy because you sit on your ass all day which also has some health risks and it can ruin your study or makes it difficult to get a job and keep it. Of course these aren't guarantees, but they're risks and these risks become bigger the more time you spend on playing games. So it might not seem like a terrible thing to play games all day, but it's not healthy and I wouldn't recommend it myself. It's smart to mix things up a bit in your life, if you spend a day on playing games then also spend a day going outside and get in touch with family and/or friends and do some activities. That's not just healthy but it's also fun, maybe not as much fun for you as playing games but that makes it more interesting for you to play games on another day!
