Games that are fun even after the 10th time you finished it
Is that even possible? I mean games that you can finish several times and you're still interested in playing it again? I guess it helps if there are achievements or trophies you still need to get or if there are multiple endings but even the best games get boring if you played them several times, right? Wrong!
Some games are never boring?
I wouldn't say never and it's definitely not a good idea to try and finish the same game ten times in a row, it helps if you play different games between playthroughs in that game you like so much. Because if you would play the same game over and over again then I think you might make it unplayable for yourself, which is something that has happened to me a couple of times. Well I wouldn't say completely unplayable but it took me more than a year to get back into the game. A good example of that is Dragon Age: Origins, I played with each origin story character and finished the game with that character. That's six playthroughs in a row and that really ruined the game for me, sure it's a fun game but just thinking of my stupidity to keep playing that game without playing any other game just makes me want to slap myself. No matter how much fun a game is it's not a good idea to keep playing that game until you get sick and tired of it, that will ruin the fun for you in the near future and makes it almost impossible to get back into the game after a couple of months. So I think it's smarter to play another game if you finished the game once, then after a month or two you can go back and it will be more fun to play that game you like so much again.
But what if you can't stop playing a game you like so much?
I know what you mean, I had the same problem with Dragon Age: Inquisition. I ended up playing the game for six weeks non stop and almost ruined everything with that dumb behaviour, it took almost seven months for me to get back into the game because every other time I just couldn't even bring myself to start up the game because I was just sick and tired of it. Not that it's a bad game but because I just played it too many times for too much all in one go. Games you like you should treasure and play in sessions and not all at once. I know it's difficult to put a game away you enjoy playing and I'm not saying you should quit playing a game that you haven't finished and you really enjoy playing. But once you finished it I will advice you to fight the urge to start a new playthrough, I know it's tempting but it's better that you wait before you play the game again. It's better to play another game and keep things interesting, otherwise the game you like will become boring and repetitive sooner or later!
What makes certain games so much fun to play them so many times?
With certain games it's the story, the characters and the world you play in. Some examples are Dragon Age games, Mass Effect games and Skyrim. But there are also games that have amazing gameplay that makes you want to play it several times because it's so much fun to play. For example Saints Row the Third, Saints Row IV, Tomb Raider (2013) and Sunset Overdrive. These games don't always have the most amazing stories but the gameplay is so much fun that I keep playing these games even if I have all the achievements in them. That is a good sign that you really like a game, when there's nothing more to gain from a game and you still enjoy playing it. I'd say that's a good sign that you really like a game and have a lot of fun playing that game. When a game is fun to play then it doesn't matter if you've finished it already ten times, as long as you're still having fun then you can finish it another time. Just for fun of course!
