Sinful Sunday: Being a bad teamplayer!
I could pretend to be a good teamplayer, but to be honest I´m not. I´m more of a lone wolf, I like to make my own decisions and my own choices in the game. This usually means not following others or working with others, but I do think that when it´s important that I´m there, I do try to be a part of the team but just in my own way. But what about you? Are you a good teamplayer?
When I look at games like Left for Dead (and of course L4D 2) and Assassin´s Creed IV wolfpack then I can´t help but notice how some people are more eager to work against the team than with the team. Which is weird because you´re supposed to work together to get further, but maybe that´s why some people enjoy working against the team so nobody gets anywhere. I know that there are plenty of scumbags that have made an art of ruining other peoples experience in games, but that´s nothing to be proud of! Still some of these people that post videos of their retarded behaviour get a lot of attention, which says probably even more about the people that watch those videos then the person that posted the video.
Ok so there are bad teamplayers out there, but why do they do it? I guess one of the most used excuses is that someone is bored, so when you´re bored you behave like an asshole and ruin the fun for other people. Yeah that makes sense... I guess that´s the problem when you play with strangers, you never know what you get and it´s one of the biggest reasons why I prefer to stick to my lone wolf behaviour. I prefer to have as little to do with other people, this usually also means no frustration when someone is trying to sabotage the team. This makes me not a great teamplayer, but I behave like this because I think it´s better that I ignore people than shouting at them until they´re deaf.
It´s actually not that difficult to be a teamplayer, all you have to do is work with other people and not be a dick will doing that. Seems simple, right? Wrong! As long as you have scumbags online that live to ruin the fun of others you´re always at risk to encounter these sad sacks of shit. Which often makes me wonder, do I want to take a risk and work with others or am I just going to do my own thing? I might not be the most friendly player out there, big understatement, but at least I try to get the job done and even if that means I have to work outside the team. I don´t want to ruin the game for anyone else, but I won´t let someone else ruin the game for me!
