Your fellow gamers part 2
You might wonder, why continue this? Well sometimes I get a little bit carried away, that´s because this is something often based on personal feelings and sometimes there is some emotion behind it. Usually my hate for campers gets the best of me and before I know it I´m typing a large section on how much they suck. Of course this is just my opinion, nothing is a fact unless it´s proven! And I don´t feel like recording my gameplay just to make a point...
Anyway I wanted to talk about the diferent types of people you can meet online, you don´t always realize it but there are actually other people playing with you in an online multiplayer match. Are they kids, students, unemployed adults, loving parents or some old geezers? You never know unless you get to know someone and how well do you get to know someone with whom you play a game? Well you only get to know someone as well as he or she lets you. But I wouldn´t expect to meet your future wife in an online multiplayer match or become best friends with that random guy that keeps shooting you in the back.
I think games can bring out the best in people but sometimes also the worst, which means that some people are fun to play with and others aren´t that much fun to play with. When someone constantly camps, gets a high scorestreak and then calls in a scorestreak reward to mow everyone down then I think it´s safe to say that you´re not enjoying yourself playing with this person. It´s not fun to play against this person nor is it fun to have someone like that in your team. Isn´t it more fun when it´s a close battle and where you really have to do your best to win? At least that´s how I see it, having those one on one battles in the rubbles of a building are really what I live for. It´s one of the reasons why I enjoy playing first person shooters, you match yourself against others and then may the best one win. Sometimes it requires you to be clever and sometimes it helps if you just have quick reflexes. But it doesn´t hurt to have a very good aim, because that usually makes the difference between winning and losing a firefight with someone else. It also determines if you´re going to shoot at someone else for ten seconds or if it´s decided in one second.
It doesn´t matter who you are, in a game everyone gets the same chances (assuming that nobody cheats) and the same equipment. Of course in some games you first have to unlock it, so a certain level will help you with that. But the point is that it´s fun to play with other people when other people have a similar motivation as yourself to play games and have fun playing them. So a camper and a runner won´t be friends, an smg user and an lmg user are likely going to clash as well. At least if you´re on opposite teams!
I think what helps you with making friends and getting to know your fellow gamers is to communicate or at least show some effort to work together. Having a fun experience with another player might actually help you make new friends. Even if that´s not so then at least you had a good time, I´d say that´s worth something isn´t it? You can´t always choose with whom you play, but you can choose how you behave in a game. Sure you can be selfish and anti-social, but then you really have to ask yourself why you play online multiplayer. I know that not everyone is nice and some people just suck, but try not to judge people to quickly. Frustrations are not a good advisor and sometimes you have to respect someone for using a different tactic then yours. Who knows you might learn something.
