The overpowered weapon or skill
I a lot of multiplayer games you´ll hear people complain, most of the time it´s about small things like changes they made to a weapon or a certain skill. These complaints sometimes go so far that they´re making threats to some of the developers, which is of course stupid to say the least! But let´s look at the problem, the overpowered weapons and skills that make people so frantic in defending them.
I think most of us who´ve played a fighter game know how much one move can dominate all other moves, in some of these games that move can give you a flawless victory and the other can do very little about it. These overpowered moves are hated by a lot of people and with a good reason, because it´s annoying that everytime you challenge someone online that you have to fight the same guy with the same move over and over again. Of course we all want to win and using something that will help you guarantee that victory seems logic, but it´s also quite lame to be this person that can only use this one move or this one weapon that helps him or her win the match. In a first person shooter it´s usually the weapons that kill you with one shot (or burst when I look at CoD Ghosts), these one shot weapons are often sniper rifles or shotguns. A shotgun usually isn´t a big threat in a large map, because the range is often not so good and if you keep your distance then it shouldn´t be too much of a problem. But a sniper rifle can be your worst enemy, especially the type of player that likes to walk around with it. It´s not forbidden so there is very little you can do about it, but it´s of course frustrating when someone keeps killing you with one shot from a distance. These quick scopers are annoying, they´re usually creating a large amount of hate in a match and make any relaxing game into a bloody nightmare. But as much as you might hate them, they have every right to use that weapon and as long as the weapon stays that powerful they will keep using it.
So what can you do about it? Well as you know sometimes developers nerf guns down a bit, this will then in return create a load of complaints from dedicated users of that weapon. So is that the right thing to do? I like to think that some of these weapon take a bit of skill to make a kill, not everyone can handle a sniper rifle that well, so it´s not that every match is flooded with these weapons. Even with the burst assault rifle (the name has eluded me for a moment) you need to get a full hit with the burst to kill in one shot, that seems easy and for some it is but in to be honest not everyone can pull that off! Of course that makes it even more frustrating for people that try to use it to defend themselves and still fail, at these moments it´s probably smarter for developers to create a better multiplayer skill matchmaking. This means you put people with the same skill, no matter what their level is, in the same lobbies. So even when someone is using an overpowered weapon, you still have a chance to beat him or her because they´re usually not that good at aiming or at least not at aiming quickly. Unfortunately right now I see all types of skills and levels in matches, it´s not organized and people who clearly are good enough for hardcore multiplayer hang around in core multiplayer because they want easy victories. It´s cowardly and annoying, but as long as the developers let it happen there is very little you can do about it. I would recommend you practice a lot with bots, learn to aim quickly and accurately. This might be boring and seems like a waste of time, but it has helped me in games. Even people who had over 40 kills in a match have been beaten by me, looking at CoD Ghosts I´m a below average gamer with about 15 kills in every match. Just don´t forget that a lot of people camp, so no matter what type of weapon you use you will be shot in the back more than you can count. So a good weapon doesn´t always guarantee a victory, but it can sure help if you use it wisely! When people keep using the same move in a fighter game to win then it´s probably best to leave the game, there is no use to waste your time on someone like that. I´m not a supporter of quitting but when someone is being an asshole then there is no point in being polite, with some luck you´ll find a more sporting player in the next round.
I know that some people are quite passionate about their weapons or skills, so whenever the developers nerf them people get mad. But let´s not forget that eventhough you bought a copy of the game, it´s still their game and they can do with it what they want. Of course changing too much would be foolish but that´s why they carefully look at what seems to be the best thing to do, this sometimes means that they do something you don´t like. Just try to see it like this, if they change a gun then it´s just a bigger challenge to beat people with that gun. People don´t respect someone that uses a gun and kills with one shot, people respect someone that can use a crappy gun and beat others with it. Think about it, maybe you´ll discover something inside yourself worth showing off!
