Assassin´s Creed IV multiplayer
The first thing I noticed when I started this is that a lot is the same in this multiplayer if I compare it to Assassin´s Creed III. Not just the same abilities, but also characters and game modes. Personally I´m not a big fan of some of the characters that have reappeared in this multiplayer, but maybe they had enough popularity to be used again. I´m glad that they´ve also put some new characters in it, some look very interesting and wield awesome weapons. For example dual pistols and a type of baton. I guess the old elements from previous multiplayer modes make this multiplayer mode a familiar experience, but there are still new things to discover!
So what´s new? Well let me start with game labs, this is where you can design your own multiplayer match. You can pick if you want to play a private or public match, you can select what type of match it´s going to be, what type of weapons you can use and what type of abilities. This allows you to create something original and maybe it will become popular among other gamers. It´s really something that allows you to try something new, for example if you prefer to use ranged weapons then you can make it so that you can only kill with ranged weapons. The same counts for using melee weapons or even go as far that only stealth kills count. If you´re annoyed that many people constantly use the same abilities, then you can turn those off for that match. This will force players to come up with something new and it keeps frustrating moments like that outside the match. Two new abilities I saw are a type of time field where you can slow time around you, this makes it easier for you to escape when someone is close to you. It looks interesting but I don´t know if this is something I would use, I´ve always liked the deception tricks more (morph and disguise). Another new ability is shield, this protect you against ranged attacks for a short time. Something you´ll love when people keep shooting your from rooftops or using poison darts on you, trust me this is something you want to use when you´re in a match full of these type of players. Also in the character customization you have some new things, for example customizing your ground finish. But you can also customize your character with a lot of options, different outfits and colours.
Is it fun to play? I think if you enjoyed multiplayer in Assassin´s Creed III then you´ll enjoy this as well, but with all the competition in multiplayer games it might not be as populated as you think. With GTA V, Battlefield 4 and CoD Ghosts you have a lot of multiplayer competition. So that might affect multiplayer but at the same time these are different type of games, so it doesn´t have to mean that you´ll face empty lobbies. You get two helpful training sessions, which help you understand some of the basics. So if you´re new to this then you can still find a place among the veterans, just remember that it doesn´t matter how many kills you make but how well you make your kills. I see a lot of people running around and only getting a few points for every kills, maybe they like killing a lot of people but it doesn´t guarantee your succes. Of course you also have people that use cheap tricks like stun somene and then poison him or her for maximum points. Unfortunately there isn´t much you can do about that, just try to avoid people like that or just try to outsmart them. After some time you´ll recognize them and you can make them work for their kill, if you have multiple attackers on you then you can also start running so others can see where you are. This means that the stunner (someone that uses that trick a lot) can´t get you that easily, also he´ll/she´ll have his or her competition there as well which might make it harder for him or her to get that kill. Assassin´s Creed IV multiplayer takes some getting used to, it also takes some skill to perform well in matches. Arrogance and impatience will get you a lot of frustration, so this isn´t the type of game if you like to get points quick and without much effort. Don´t be suprised if you see a lot of people standing on a rooftop, these people are clearly lost in this game and don´t really understand how to play it. The trick is to be invisible on the map, to strike when someone least suspects it and always stay one step ahead of your attackers. So if you´re done with first person shooters and you just want to try something new then this might be something for you. Just remember that you get some fierce competition and some people are very good at this. Good luck!
