Does a gamertag say something about a gamer?
Maybe it´s just me but often I see gamertags that are just weird or lame to say the least. I´m not saying that it´s easy to come up with something original but when I look at some gamertags then I just can´t help but wonder what they were thinking, probably not much at that time! But sometimes you also have some silly gamertags, names or words that just don´t make much sense and yet it does give you the idea that the person who thought of that at least has a sense of humour. Assuming that he or she didn´t take that idea from someone else! People with certain words in their gamertag are something that makes me wonder if they do that on purpose to say a little bit about themselves or if it´s just something that sounds cool. For example mad master seems like a name for someone that gets mad easily and he apparently is under the impression that he´s good in what he does. Or am I seeing too much in this?
You have all types of gamertags and I seriously doubt there is always a big meaning behind it, but I´ve heard from some people that they do have a reason why they use a certain gamertag. But let´s first see what type of gamertags you have out there. I think we all know gamertags where some of the letters are numbers or where numbers are put in front or behind the intended name or word. I think this is lazy and lame, because you really want to use a certain gamertag but it´s already taken. So what do you do? You use the same one but with some numbers in it, brilliant! Then you have the capitalized gamertags, I don´t think I have to mention why this is lame. I think it gives a certain desperate and pathetic cry for attention, kind of like this: HEY LOOK AT ME I´M A GAMER AND I´M COOL! But let´s not forget people that type as an idiot, for example something like this: itz da bestest. I don´t know where this is considered as cool, funny or interesting but I can´t imagine it´s anywhere on this planet. Of course you also have people that need to show others how cool they are with gamertags like king of this or ruler of that. Maybe they´re not serious about it, but for a stranger to see this it just gives a bad first impression.
So what is a cool gamertag? Well it would be wrong for me to say what´s cool and what´s not, but I think that it´s funny when you come up with something that isn´t too serious and yet still has some originality. For example deadly napkin is a funny one or frantic flower. Maybe you can mix two words into one word, for example something like gamermaid. The key is to find something original, so you don´t have to put numbers or an x in the gamertag to get it. If you insist on using numbers or just a number then try to do it like this: sinful seven or enigmatic eight. Well I´m not the best when it comes to thinking of something so maybe you can come up with something much better, which is a good thing because I wouldn´t want to think of a gamertag of everyone!
But getting back to the original question, does a gamertag say something about a gamer? I think it can, but it wouldn´t be wise to already judge someone just based on a gamertag. Of course you might already have an opinion about someone when you see a gamertag that says: I like butts or your momma loves me. Let´s not forget that a lot of these type of gamertags are secondary accounts of gamers, they play on these accounts to annoy the crap out of other gamers in multiplayer matches. Often I see the gamerscores below a thousand points on these accounts and yet they still have a gold membership of several years. I think it´s highly unlikely that there are many new players on the current generation consoles, because with the Playstation 4 already available and the Xbox One this week I seriously doubt that many gamers want to start now with playing on the Xbox 360 or the Ps 3. So many new accounts I see in multiplayer matches are often secondary accounts, as if the gamertags wouldn´t give that away. So in a way a gamertag can say something about a gamer, but I wouldn´t build your judgement on that. Let his or her behavioiur in a game be the reason for that, because actions still speak louder than words!
