The Sims
You might not expect this from someone who likes to play first person shooters and survival horror games but I actually liked playing the Sims. I guess it´s the humour with all the possibilities in the game that makes it so fun for me to play. Of course I also bought most of the add-ons, because new outfits and new locations are usually fun to check out. Especially when you got different types of sims, like a vampire and a witch. The idea of just building a house and have a family in there was already in the background by that time. It doesn´t mean that you couldn´t do that anymore, but the endless possibilities are just too much fun to ignore!
I usually made a sims that was supposed to be me, I never went into too much detail because that´s just way too much work and I´m not that good when it comes to that. Usually I would stick to dark brown hair, brown eyes, slightly in shape and make him a leo. Of course in later games you could add so much more, for example your favourite food and personality traits. One of my favourite add-ons is University for the Sims 2, I had so much fun with that and maybe because I was going to the university myself that it just felt fun to play that. I must admit that the University version for the Sims 3 was a bit of a disappointment to me, it felt like half a game in a way. I´ve had that feeling with more add-ons and that´s one of the reasons why I actually stopped playing the Sims. Games should always be fun to play, when you no longer have fun with a game then what´s the point of playing it?
But the Sims games will always have a good memory in my mind, because I´ve had a lot of fun playing those games. Eventhough not every add-on is that interesting there is sometimes one add-on that will keep you busy for months. For me that was the Supernatural add-on for the Sims 3, it was so much fun to play with all the new types of sims. Also I really like Moonlight Falls, it´s exactly the type of place where I would like to live. Well not that I´m interested in living among vampires and werewolves but the look of the town is awesome! I think I only played in that town once I got Supernatural. Usually I would make my own family and make my own stories, but sometimes I would mingle with other families and (accidentally) disrupt certain relationships. As retaliation the person that got mad at me would kick my trash can over, not once or twice but sometimes three times a day! Of course I would get revenge with my werewolf sim and run after him around his house! It´s interesting though that you can have so much fun with a game that has very little to no violence at all. In most games I play there is a certain level of violence, but not in the Sims. Sure you can fight with another sim but that doesn´t really show much and even when you get turned by a vampire or werewolf it´s quite innocent.
I think a lot of gamers think that the Sims games are lame, often just judging on what they saw or what others have told them. It´s a shame really, because it´s a fun game and you can have a lot of fun with it. It´s not all about shooting people in the head or fighting off zombies, there are so many more games out there! A lot of times I see people with only one or two different types of games on their profile, which is probably enough for them but I can´t help but think that they only see a glimpse of all the fun games that are out there. I know that some games are considered lame, but never let someone else tell you that! Just play games that you want to play, who knows maybe you´ll discover a nice game out there like the Sims!
