Transsexiual gamers
Some time ago I talked about female gamers, but did you know that there are also transsexiual gamers? You might not always notice, but they´re out there! Still this isn´t about awareness, I´d like to talk about how some of them have a hard time playing games online because of hostile behaviour from other gamers. Apparently it´s a crime to be a transsexiual to some people and so once someone is a suspect that person becomes a target. But why?
Often people that are different are the victim of being bullied, this happens at school or work but this also happens online. Even when you´re playing a game it´s not strange to be targeted by others just for being different. Sometimes this is because of race, others times it´s because of religion but in some cases also gender seems to play a role. I know that not every country is that tolerable about transsexiuals, but does that really mean that you have to put your closed minded opinion in the online gamer world? As far as I know they have every right to play (online) games as the rest of us!
A lot of people still seem to think that every female character they see in a game is controlled by a guy. I think women have shown themselves more than enough in the (online) gaming world. But when someone doesn´t sound that feminine, then suddenly there can be accusations of not being a woman. Something that can actually hurt someone that is transsexiual. So instead of being so focused on what someones gender is, maybe some people should just focus on the game they´re playing. Who really cares who the other people are with whom you´re playing, I mean if it´s a random online match then I doubt you go through an introduction round as you would on a new school.
Personally I don´t care with whom I´m playing games, when it´s in an online random match then I hardly talk with anyone anyway. So why should anyone be bothered who the other players are? Games are meant to be fun, not to pick on other people just because they´re different than you! Respect your fellow gamer, no matter what race or gender they have! We all have a right to play games and have fun, why would anyone want to be against that? So even when someone sounds different, then that´s not an invite to be an asshole. Just try to have fun, who knows maybe some gamers that you first thought were lame are actually fun to play games with!
